Desa wisata Pagaruyung

My home is in a rural village surrounded by vast rice fields. This is the perfect place to learn about life in a traditional Indonesian village. The locals really enjoy meeting foreigners, which makes for a good cultural exchange. Enjoy the fresh air at the river next to my house, take part in activities with the locals and end the day with a stunning view from my sunset viewpoint. My mission is to support the local community and create a cultural exchange, and I would love to welcome anyone to my home to help me with this.

Hi, my name is Roni, and I'm from the beautiful Desa Wisata Pagaruyung in West Sumatra. I have many social and environmental projects where I could need some help from volunteers. I live right next to a river, but this beautiful scenery is often disturbed by plastic. Many people throw their trash into the river, but it is my dream to restore the natural beauty of this place. The goal of my project is to collect the plastic, recycle it, and turn it into products that can be used again! I am also an English teacher and I organize English classes for the local people. Learning English opens up many opportunities for them in the future and learning with a foreigner often motivates them to study harder! You will have plenty of free time to explore the area, learn about the unique culture in West Sumatra and visit the most beautiful places in my region.

My time in Pagaruyung was unlike anything I experienced before. Get off the beaten path to experience local culture in a way that no tourism agency could ever offer to you. Live like a local, eat like a local and have true impact on the community. Roni is one of the kindest persons I know and he made me feel truly welcome in his home. Pagaruyung offers many interesting places to go to but you might not want to go anywhere as the backyard offers stunning views of the river and the rice fields. If you want to use your time to make an impact come here and help with the river project!

Robert Goosen from Germany has been an incredible asset to our community during his time here in West Sumatra. His dedication to social initiatives, such as teaching English to children across various educational levels, from kindergarten to university, has made a profound impact.Additionally, Robert's enthusiasm for immersing himself in our traditional arts and culture, evident in his participation in Sunday night community events, where he shares his knowledge and learns traditional dances, exemplifies his genuine commitment to cultural exchange.
