Boreland Lodge Hotel

We're a small hotel just North of Edinburgh. You can get to Edinburgh just 30mins on the train. Volunteers get their own private room with an ensuite or share with another Volunteer we're all like family. We're experienced hosts and are always welcoming volunteers with open arms!

We have 4 staff members here: John and Josie ,Greg and shelbie who are all Scottish. We only speak English (with a very Scottish accent )and try to encourage only English to be spoken whilst on duty. Volunteers are treated with patience and respect. Here you'll be able to improve your English, have lots of free study time, and gain good experience to put on your CV. During your time off you can enjoy the area, discover Edinburgh and travel around Scotland.We are happt to help and support you.

I had a great volunteering experience at the Boreland Hotel. The team was kind, welcoming, and supportive, and the working hours were always respected. Tasks were clear and well organized. The location is very convenient, close to Edinburgh and easy to reach by train. I’m very grateful for this experience.🙌🏾

I had a great experience volunteering at Boreland. The people were very kind and welcoming, and Inverkeithing is lovely and peaceful. Being close to Edinburgh is a big plus. I’m very grateful for this experience and would definitely recommend it.

The other volunteers were friendly and helped me settle in. You’ll see lots of Kinga and Josie, they are friendly and helpful. Michael also pops in and helps where needed. There’s two staff accommodation rooms. The room I was staying in first was not kept in the best condition. The bathroom had extensive mold and limited space. I was in a top bunk bed and the ladder was missing its top step. I brought these concerns to host but they were fixed. Two of the volunteers left after couple of days after I got there, so I moved to that room, and had a much better experience.

The staff were welcoming and i felt at home. Everyone was friendly. I've made friends and had a great time. The work was easy and the hours were respected. There were multiple tasks but all really easy to learn. I shared the bedroom with two others volunteers and we had a bathroom. The hotel is located in Inverkeithing, a small town about 30 min ride from Edinburgh. The whole experience was amazing and I'd definitely come back!

Good things come around again, so this is my second time volunteering here. I'm once again grateful to the whole team for their unwavering support, for helping me with everything, for their positive attitude, and for making me feel at home again. I will definitely return if I have the chance. Working hours are respected. Breakfast is included. You can easily get to Edinburgh by bus or train (30-40 minutes).
