Albergue las Águedas
It is a rural place in a small village with the Saint James Way in the middle of Nature and close to the historical little city of Astorga in León (Spain). But this is a special place because is a family project become real and so special for us and for everyone who visits us. We have the Hostel (Albergue) and besides our Rural House. It is a big place in stone, wood, green and very good energy.
We are in the very Saint James Way and we are used to have volunteers of the Way (pilgrims), but also people who loves nature, little villages, and a relaxed environment who are looking for a personal path inside and a time to release the tensions of the city....and we are always opened to know new nice people from different backgrounds who are not afraid of working and helping other people.

My volunteer time was part of my Camino and it was a wonderful experience. It just added to my Camino experience helping pilgrims that come through and seeing what it takes to run an Albergue.
If you are someone that truly wants to help I highly recommend working with Juan. If you are a good and responsible worker, Juan will provide everything you need, and may take you on short excursions during downtime.
Do not apply if you have to be constantly told what to do or just want a free vacation.
It is an important task to make the stay for the Pilgrims a great one.

Mi experiencia ha sido inolvidable. Ha sido mi primer voluntariado y no podría haber elegido mejor lugar. Me he sentido como en casa. El lugar es precioso y tranquilo, el ambiente de los peregrinos super buenas vibes, y Juan es el mejor: Cocina increíble, tiene huerto del que nos alimentamos nosotros y los peregrinos, y si le das el 100, te da el 110.
Es un voluntariado para hacer con ganas ya que se hacen tareas durante el día, desde limpiar habitaciones, a check ins, servir cena, bar… Si tienes ganas de aprender y buscas buen ambiente y tranquilidad al mismo tiempo, es tu sitio ☺️

Mi primera experiencia en un voluntario y todo a sido magico, excelentes compañeros y Juan una persona maravillosa, espero poder repetir esta experiencia en alguna otra ocacion me llevo sobre todo los mejores recuerdos y momentos comprtidos juntos a las demas personas

My experience at Las Aguedas was beautiful. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Juan, Eric, Francisca and Emilio made me feel at home from the first day. the peaceful and loving energy here shows how much they believe in the Camino spirit. The work is variable and the time schedule is not too strict, it’s important to coordinate between volunteers to make the best out of the working and free hours, but personally I had the best experience with Nivia and Kris on my side. I am so grateful to everyone for sharing with me all the love, knowledge and care that this place is. I’ll be back!

It was my second time volunteering at Las Aguedas, because since the first time, it felt like home. The place is a paradise, and much of that has to do with the people you will find there. Evi and Juan are the kindest, friendliest, and most peaceful people you will ever meet in your life. Every guest who passes through there, even for a night, can agree with me because they never want to leave! The tasks are light and enjoyable to do, there's always music around, everything is in order, and it's flexible at the same time. You become part of the family if you're also good vibes and proactive!
