The group's arrival point is the Batán Bus Station. Travelers must ensure they arrive at the station before 4 PM to make the transfer to the remote location. A host representative will meet the group at the Bataan bus station, holding a sign with the name of the project. This unique project is mainly run by a local family, with the owner having lived here his whole life, sharing a deep, generational connection to the land. The host's passion is to protect biodiversity and work against deforestation. With a profound knowledge of local wildlife and nature, the host wants to share this knowledge while developing the place in a slow and respectful way. The family is the oldest in Barra Pacuare, and the traveler will share their authentic way of life, contributing directly to their mission.
The experience is set in the incredibly remote and ecologically vital region of Barra De Pacuare, in Limón, Costa Rica. This destination is situated between the coast and the jungle, renowned for its amazing wildlife and critical nesting beaches. It is a place where you can witness primary nature and true conservation efforts far from mass tourism. The isolation means embracing a simple way of life, where the group's actions have a direct, visible impact on protecting this pristine coastal and riverine ecosystem.
The core impact is focused on protecting and improving biodiversity in this critical remote location. Travelers help maintain the project, monitor primates, and participate in reforestation efforts. Your activities include monitoring wildlife, sowing local plants, cleaning the area, and improving installations. This work helps the local economy of this very remote community. The goal is clear: to ensure the wildlife population doesn't decline, making this a journey with a genuine purpose that contributes to the ecological health of Barra Pacuare.
The group's activities, including monitoring and reforestation, sowing local plants and vegetables, directly contribute to local efforts to conserve and restore terrestrial ecosystems. This hands-on work will help maintain and improve life on land within the Barra de Pacuare region.
The project promotes climate action by encouraging a remote way of living, utilizing solar panels for electricity, and practicing good waste sorting. By embracing these sustainable practices, the group helps to reduce the carbon footprint and supports community resilience against climate change impacts.
Travelers will support this goal mainly by beach cleaning and actively working to avoid pollution that impacts marine and coastal environments. This effort helps protect the local aquatic ecosystem, including the habitats critical for sea turtle nesting and other marine life.
