L'expérience

Our mission as a library is it to help the conservacion by helping the people first. We accomplish this by offering free opportunities for the community of Puerto Jimenez and everyone else interested, to learn, to exchange or to simply spend time to relax.

Completely relying on funds and donations, ASCONA and therefore the library as well, need volunteers to sustain themselves. As a potential volunteer, it is your job to help run this place!

Construction & Réparation: Aider à diverses réparations ou constructions.

Nettoyage: Aider à nettoyer la cuisine, les chambres, les salles de bain et les espaces communs.

Travail social: Aider au travail bénévole dans des projets locaux et des communautés.

Ce que vous recevez

2 jours de congé par semaine

Chambre privée: Vous aurez un lit dans une chambre privée. En d'autres termes, une chambre rien que pour vous.

Petit-déjeuner: Vous avez droit à un petit-déjeuner gratuit, tous les jours de votre séjour.

Déjeuner: Vous avez droit à un déjeuner gratuit, tous les jours de votre séjour.

Dîner: Vous avez droit à un dîner gratuit, tous les jours de votre séjour.

Réductions sur les Visites: Obtenez des réductions pour les visites et excursions dans la ville.

Laverie Gratuite: Vous pouvez utiliser notre buanderie librement.

Vélos à votre disposition: Vous pouvez utiliser nos vélos quand vous le souhaitez.

Accès Internet Basique: Internet à vitesse basique pour travailler à distance

Espace de Travail Dédié: Espace spécifique pour travailler à distance

Détails du programme

We are the only library in Costa Rica, run only by a non-profit, ASCONA, located in Puerto Jimenez on the Osa Peninsula. This place offers the most diverse biodiversity on the entire planet and therefore requires an exceptional amount of effort towards conservacion. Our mission as a library is it to help the conservacion by helping the people first.

We accomplish this by offering free opportunities for the community of Puerto Jimenez and everyone else interested, to learn, to exchange or to simply spend time to relax.

Activités et horaires

Your job as a volunteer will require you to help maintaining order in the library. Apart from the library- building there is a relatively big garden on the property, which always needs some care. In addition , keeping track of checked-out or checked-in books is equally as important, as you essencialy are the librarian of this place.

Occasionaly there are activities and programs, that are being hosted at the library. Helping the other volunteers with setting everything up and ensuring that the programs are able to be held properly, is also one of yor major roles.

In general the following skills are required for the position:

-Interest in working with kids
-Basic spanish knowledge
-Advanced english knowledge

Règles

The only thing we require you to do is to commit fully to the library while working! The title "library" my be misleading because there is always work to do here and we want our volunteers to get done as much as they can while enjoying this beautiful place!

This of course does not mean we expect you to work 24/7, but being commited to your work is something we truly value.
