L'expérience

At our hostel we have a skate park, its located more in the village of Arugam Bay! When we opened it gained a lot of attention from the local kids so we decided to start hosting free english classes for the kids nearby and surf skate lessons! the past 2 seasons it has been a hit and our classes are getting bigger and bigger!

We host lessons 6x a week, the kids are aged 6-15 years of age (they are split into groups, each group receives 2 lessons

Détails du programme

At our hostel, we have a skate park. When it was first built all the local kids were fascinated by the project and super excited to see what it was. It gained a lot of attention with the locals (as our hostel is located in the village), so we decided to start hosting free english classes for the kids. There is almost no english curriculum at the local school, so this is super important. We host english classes at the hostel 6x per week! The kids are aged 6-15 and the classes are currently split into 3 groups based on age group.

Activités et horaires

Everyday (excluding Fridays) we host a one hour english class from 4-5PM. After 5PM, the kids have 1 hour to learn how to skate and play on the skate park!

For the english classes, we are looking for thought-out lesson plans that have some thought to them, an aim so the class follows with progress.
We are really aiming to improve the conversational english for these kids!
After the class, we like if you can stick around for the skating, help teach or just watch to make sure they share the boards around!
