Romina and Adrian stayed with us in October and helped with planting, cooking, and walkway work. Although they didn’t stay the full time originally planned due to Adrian receiving a job opportunity, this was communicated and understandable.

Adrian brought great positive energy from the moment we met — always smiling and a real pleasure to be around. Romina was also helpful during their stay.

I recommend Romina and Adrian as volunteers. Thank you both.

Nuestra experiencia en el anfitrión fue muy enriquecedora. Realmente pudimos conectarnos con la naturaleza del lugar y con la comunidad del anfitrión Aguacate. Todas las actividades que hay para hacer en la naturaleza son increíbles y únicas del Chocó. Los host fueron muy amables y claros en las tareas, respetaron los horarios de trabajo y además propusieron muchas actividades en conjunto para disfrutar aún mas del lugar. Sin embargo, el lugar en donde se alojan los voluntarios y el lugar de cocina en bastante incómodo y precario asique es algo que podrían mejorar y esperamos puedan hacerlo.

We applied through Worldpackers, excited by photos and communication with the host. However, the volunteer accommodation was nothing like shown. We were placed in a rundown, unsanitary structure- surrounded by trash, with no cleaning supplies, termite droppings in the kitchen, a rotting fridge storing dry food. Bathrooms were filthy, some rooms had no electricity, and doors or windows were missing. The focus was clearly preparing for future guests, not supporting volunteers. We were expected to clean and fix things ourselves. After raising concerns we left early for our wellbeing.

Since your visit, we’ve made big improvements to volunteer spaces, including deep cleaning, repairs, and better maintenance systems.
