I had a great stay at the host and loved getting to know all of the people and all of the cats. Dierenthhuisje is a 15 minute bike ride from Geel so you are surrounded by beautiful nature. I'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys caring for and loving animals. I hope to be able to visit again sometime.

Mi estadía en el refugio fue muy chévere en general; me gustó mucho compartir con los demás voluntarios y aprender de ellos en varios aspectos icluso la lengua. Todos fueron muy amables y pacientes al explicarme cómo hacer las labores. Me quedo con más que sólo una experiencia, sino que los siento como unos buenos amigos y con gente en quién confiar. Me ayudaron mucho en varias cosas de mi vida, me entendieron y valoraron mi trabajo, me sentí querida y apreciada.

The coldest people I've ever met.They do not welcome you and barely talk with you, then blame you for communication.The work is really hard,and when you give all your energy to do it well,you get blamed for not doing overtime or working on your day off.They made me sit and send criticism after criticism,telling me about their last Worldpackers experience that went wrong as well.Instead of always blaming others you should do some introspection.Communication isn't something you demand of others,it requires connexion and respect.I know you're used to taking care of pets but we're humans !

The animals and staff are really sweet, and caring for the animals was one of the best parts of the experience. Unfortunately, the stay didn't work out for me :/. The work hours didn't match what was agreed. Some days ran up to 10+ hours, and I was often working on days off when others called out sick. Communication with the host was difficult, and I felt overlooked. When I attempted to discuss concerns, it wasn't welcomed. Your experience will depend on what you need in a work environment. If clear communication and consistent scheduling matter to you, keep this in mind. Goodluck everyone!
