I already really miss the shelter, its people and of course the animals. The work wasn't too hard and the dogs made it alot of fun. Sofia and Kent were always ready to help when I had a question or when I needed a lift into town. Be aware though that the camp is very basic and the electricity has some issues(nothing major). It didn't really bother me, but I can see that some people wouldn't like it. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I will be coming back!

I really enjoyed my time at the shelter. The couple it belongs to truly cares about the animals which is so beautiful to see. I got to spend so much time with the animals, especially some of my favorites (the donkey is one of them, he has a looot of personality), got to learn A LOT about them and it was such a nice experience to help them and see them happy. Other than that, the family is wonderful, helpful and there were multiple times they went above to help me with stuff. You will get dirty so no new or favorite clothes. It's a physical work so be ready for that but it's not too much.

I had an amazing time at the shelter. Sofia and Kent are absolutely wonderful, they really care so much about all the animals and I felt like I was a part of my family during my stay. The work is good and it's very rewarding to take care of the animals and you'll have lots of time to cuddle the animals. I learned so many new things during my stay. If you want to live in nature, look for a simple and slow way of life, love animals and want to enjoy the Algarve on your days off, this is perfect for you. I had a great stay!

I had a great time, never seen people so committed to the animals in their the shelter, knowing them all and give them as much loving care as possible. It's inspiring to spend time with them and, in my case, with the cats and dogs. I love them all, not easy to say goodbye. The camp life is basic, a tent, a small kitchen, fridge, cold shower, and portopotti, but who cares in this amazing nature. I took bathes in the river.. Without your own transportation, the hosts take you to town, where the supermarket and trainstation are. Beautiful environment

I had such a great time at the shelter! You stay in a camp next to the shelter, so if you enjoy camping and living the simple life like me you're gonna love it. You share an outdoor kitchen and a cold outdoor shower, and during the warmer days you can enjoy a dip in the river. There's an option to use a hot shower in the hosts' house as well. The tasks vary and you get to feed the animals, do some cleaning and maintenance. The hosts listen to your preferences and if you like to work hard, they will give you the opportunity to do so. I'll miss the place for sure! 🩵

It can be hard work at times feeding all of the animals, as well as doing maintenance on a variety of things, but it's pretty laid back. I had an incredible time watching and learning about the different farm animals, as well as the dogs and cats. The weather can also be the decider on how easy things will be or not.

Overall my time was fine. Lots of ups and downs. I have lots of things to say that Workdpackers word count will not allow. Please message me if you want a full honest review!

I have lots of mixed feelings about this place. I absolutely fell in love with each and every the shelter, the work was exactly what I hoped! I unfortunately did have some problems with the living situation and communication with the host. The conditions of the volunteer space were not as advertised online. My first day, I was greeted with a rat living in my provided living space, swarms of yellow jackets while we were cooking and eating, and none of the equipment working in the kitchen. The host tried their best to improve the conditions, and while it's very appreciated, I wish I had known before.
