Détails du programme
We would like to find a leader to help us with the volunteers.
We would like this person to stay between 2 and month.
But we can study any perfil.
We are surrounded by nature, in front of the sea.
The beach is 6km long, so we have lot of work taking care of this place and protecting the nesting turtles.
We offer a nice volunteering abroad experience on the Costa Rican pacific coast to get the help we need.
Volunteers can enjoy slow tourism and local pura vida way of life with us.
We live and work on a sustainable way in order to preserve biodiversity and ecosystem.
We like sharing with people, explain our culture, our incredible wildlife.
We offer a nice house with 12 dorms, and 3 meals a day.
Turtles season starts in June and ends in January with the last release of babies.
We are a local family.
Activités et horaires
We mainly need help to welcome the volunteers and organize their work.
We need help for communication between and english and spanish because the owner of the project only speak spanish.
We want to be able to do 2 nights patrol to save more turtles.
The leader will help with :
- welcome the volunteers and explain the work and the rules
- make sure everybody feels good
- help volunteers or join them for excursions and visits
- do night patrols
Any activity like yoga would be a big plus.
The main volunteers activities are :
- patrol during the night on the 6 Km beach to find turtles nesting
- in the morning locate the eggs in the hatchery
- in the morning or afternoon release baby sea turtles.
They could help with gardening or camp maintenance.
There is lot of free time, so they can leave the camp to visit nearby places (Manuel Antonio, Nauyaca Falls, Dominical...).
Règles
It is a very remote place, non-touristic. There is no shop.
You have to be able to spend time by yourself or with the others volunteers.
There's no wifi but the signal is quite good so you should come with a local Sim card.
You must respect work times, the place, and the others.
To arrive in Tortugas de Isla Damas, you can take a bus in San Jose until Quepos at Tracopa terminal. The cost is about 11 dollars.
Then a transport until the island that we organize for you for 10 dollars (taxi and boat).
We come for you at Quepos bus terminal, so your trip is easy and safe.
We are close to Manuel Antonio.
You can have several free days a month to visit other parts of Costa Rica. The days are decided with the owner of the project to make sure volunteers will be fine.
Enjoy the more you can and have peace and fun!
