Hello travellers!
Saffron is a spice, which is harvested from a flower for a few weeks each year. Depending on the flowering each day, you will spend between 30mins-1.5hrs each morning in the paddock, picking the delicate flowers. Then you will come inside, pour a cup of tea, and spend 1-3 hours stripping the delicate petals from each flower. You will need a strong back (bending to pick), attention to detail, and great conversation skills! :-)

Chambre privée: Vous aurez un lit dans une chambre privée. En d'autres termes, une chambre rien que pour vous.

Déjeuner: Vous avez droit à un déjeuner gratuit, tous les jours de votre séjour.

Dîner: Vous avez droit à un dîner gratuit, tous les jours de votre séjour.

Laverie Gratuite: Vous pouvez utiliser notre buanderie librement.

Utilisez notre cuisine équipée: N'hésitez pas à utiliser notre cuisine et préparer vos propres délicieux repas.

Détails du programme

We are a very busy family of 4: Angela, Brendon, Poppy (9) and Saffron (7). We live in a nice, big house about 12 minutes drive from the main town of Orange. We work full time, and run a saffron farm, and April is also school holidays here so the harvest period is very busy for us. Saffron harvest can be variable day to day, so we need to have some people with us ready, in case we wake up to 1000s of flowers to pick. So, some days you might be needed for 2-5 hours, other days not at all!! In return you will have free accommodation and meals, and a unique experience in a beautiful area of Australia!

We have had many workers live with us over the years and love welcoming you into our family during this time. As such, while you will not be required for any childcare, you must be happy and comfortable around children, and willing to engage with them a bit during your stay as they will be on school holidays.

Activités et horaires

Mon-Fri
8.30am-10.30am (approx)- picking saffron flowers
10.30am-12.30pm(approx) - sitting stripping saffron flowers
2-3pm (approx) - Do a quick second check for flowers, pick and strip

Important: Saffron flowering is very variable, so some days you may only be needed for 1 hour, others 5 hours. There is usually only a couple of HUGE flowering days a year, and if these happen to fall on a weekend, we may require your help on these specific days also
