I had a wonderful time at the eco village! The hosts are so kind, welcoming and lovely. Working there is really fun, it's never boring or the same and the hours are fair and they are also very flexible if you want to make a trip or something like that. I met wonderful people and made many new and wonderful friendships!! Absolutely recommended to go there!

I had such an incredible time as my first solo volunteer trip at the eco village. Everyone I met was so kind and open, and I made so many great memories with my little volunteer family. There is a bus stop right across the road so it is super accessible to travel around in your free time, which is made easy by how flexible they are with working hours/banking work hours. The building as well is an incredibly cool place, and it's so fun to explore and see all the art (and the beautiful nearby lake). Altogether an amazing time and I would definitely recommend if you want a cool spot in Finland :).

The eco village is a place you should visit without overthinking it, because whatever you imagine will be completely different from reality. It's a huge space, full of new experiences and learning opportunities. The work you can do there ranges from everyday tasks like cleaning or organizing to maintenance projects. The experience itself is incredible, and the atmosphere is an adventure of its own. If you enjoy the peace of the forest, swimming in the lake, making new friends, and discovering new things, the eco village is for you!

En la ecovila hice mi primer voluntariado. Lo recomiendo ampliamente. Siempre hay tareas por hacer, son muy claras y se realizan dentro de las horas acordadas. Raisa es una muy linda persona y junto con Torsten son excelentes anfitriones. Conocí mucha gente local y foránea. La invitación al sauna siempre está abierta los días Miércoles. La cocina siempre tiene comida vegetariana. La mayor parte del tiempo estuve conviviendo con los otros voluntarios. Yo no sabía que podía extrañarlos tanto. Gracias por regalarme momentos mágicos.

Fue una experiencia maravillosa! Me hicieron sentir bien recibida desde el primer día! Me cruce con personas increíbles durante mi estadía, el lugar es de ensueño y siempre hay algo que hacer ya sea dentro o fuera. Los miembros de la comunidad son un amor de personas, muy atentos, amables y respetuosos. Las tareas son muy variadas pero siempre intentan que se ajusten a tus habilidades. Si es tu primera vez como voluntarix es el lugar ideal. Siempre recordare la ecovila con mucho cariño.

The eco village is a nice place, in the middle of a forest. A lot of time to connect with nature, but also not so far from the capital. The hours and jobs were easy and flexible and the hosts and people who work there are all very kind.

Please contact me for the full story. + Building was amazing + I had the best time with the other volunteers + Staff I worked with (Mari and Hanna) was lovely - Work had nothing to do with "building a makerspace" (the title of this) - Work hours not very flexible - Owners had communication issues and blamed it all on them being Finnish (this pisses me off as a Finn) - Owners didn't know how to take critique (funny since they are "all about learning") - They kept saying "You are free to leave if you don't like it here" but when I did, they retaliated

My second time in the eco village was a very different experience than the first one. We were less volunteers and there were less events going on. Even though, I also enjoy it a lot and made me grow! I worked cleaning and preparing the future maker space and was amazing to work all together building a new roof for the fireplace. the eco village will be always in my heart, thanks a lot and see you a third time ;)
