L'expérience

We are a super busy couple that work a lot & we are looking for someone to help us on small & simple chores in exchange for free board, we have lived in Cairns basically all our lives & know the area well.
Boarder/s must be dog friendly. Our German Shepard is our very friendly Fur-Child & Guard Dog, he is usually only Inside with us when we are home & sleeps in our room at night.

Détails du programme

WHAT WE CAN OFFER: We can offer you a safe home in a peaceful neighborhood, close to town (10 min drive or 15 min bus), your own car park off the street (You must notify us if you have a car when applying), your own fridge and pantry space. We have a Robot Vacuum that does a really good job with the floor & dealing our Fur-child's (Dog's) hair. Minimum 3 week stay, But prefer month or longer stays..

We have a reference from many visitors, our first successful HelpX stay of 6 weeks, "Scott the Belgium" has left us a review and is happy to answer any questions you may have.

A few years ago we had been a regular host to couch surfers in the past with short term guest & we really enjoyed it, we decided to create a longer version of that where we can help travelers with their accommodations expense in exchange for 12 HRS (1 person = 1.7hrs per day) or 19 hrs (2 people = 2.7 hrs per day / Per person.... or 9.5 hrs each per person per week)

CHORES - Examples of basic chores we would like assistance with;
(most chores will have "video guides" on how to do them) (also there is "How to video" guides to who you how to use appliances)

DAILY TASKS
Empty the robot vacuum
Pack & empty the dishwasher.
Clean kitchen bench wipe down & pack away things to specified standard each night

ONCE PER WEEK
Vacuum
Check & clean dishwasher filter
Clean out dryer lint filter
Wash our laundry & Put into dryer
Clean Main toilet
Laundry (using the washer and dryer)

ONCE PER FORTNIGHT
Clean Bathrooms
Clean internal of microwave
Mop the floors
Clean Robot Vacuum sensors

ONCE PER MONTH
Clean fans
Mowing (sometimes twice per month during the wet season.

Règles

We have a Rules & agreement list we send to you- we try to have clear expectations so you there are no surprises and to make you feel as comfortable as possible

Public transport options include buses, Uber, and taxis.
On weekdays, buses run every 30 minutes. On weekends, they run hourly and can sometimes be unreliable.
If you need to travel to and from work and the bus times don’t suit your schedule, you’ll need to arrange your own transport.
