After 12 YEARS hosting our wonderful VOLUNTEER helpers, we WERE selling our much loved rain forest property. After a 5 week visit to Canada, David returned feeling fitter. We hope you will be experienced in all the skills that we need, but David can again assist, instruct and supervise. Two volunteers ideal!

Détails du programme

We have decided to stay in our wonderful home for a few more years and hopefully finish the place! We have lots to do clearing wind fall trees, renovating the garage, fencing the road. You'll be running whipper-snippers lawn tractors and even electric chainsaws if you're up to it.

We prefer that a single agree on an initial stay of fours weeks, with an extension of another 2 weeks if we all get on well together. For couples, an minimum stay of 3 weeks is good with 2 more weeks is we really love each other! Obviously we instruct and supervise the work as much as is necessary, but expect that volunteers bring basic work skills with them. We hope they will be self-starting and enthusiastic and we have yet to be disappointed!

Activités et horaires

We ask for 6 hours per day 5 days per week from each of our volunteers. That is 30 hours per week and days off are by mutual arrangement. We do not do any teaching as such.

We will provide all the food you reasonably require. You will usually prepare your own breakfast and lunch. It would be nice to have someone who enjoys cooking, so we can have an occasional break from dinner prep.

We are happy to accommodate most dietary requirements, and expect that you will share the washing (by hand) of the dishes only occasionally

Any other housekeeping, cleaning etc that you do will count as part of your volunteer activities.

Règles

We would prefer a couple so that you can entertain each other a bit.

We strongly prefer non-smokers. If you must smoke it, will only be outside the house and very close to the house. No smoking anywhere else on the property. Bush fires are a menace here.

We do not abstain entirely from alcohol don't expect that you will drink more than a beer every few days.

We ask you to advise us when you are going to leave the house and when you will be returning, whether by vehicle or on foot. This is a remote property and accidents can happen on the road or in the forest. We need to know you are safe.

We will only accept applications from volunteers who are already in Australia or who can provide copies of visas and tickets which show when you will be entering Australia.
