Détails du programme
We are located in Saraguro, a small town in the Andean highlands, south of Cuenca. Both indigenous and mestizos coexist there, although the indigenous community is more represented.
We respond to a double need: to develop relationships between the youth of the indigenous and mestizo community of Saraguro since they do not interact much. The second objective is to implement leisure and free time alternatives in Saraguro, and provide a neutral place so that they can spend time together and prevent them from falling into alcoholism or drugs.
The foundation receives every year 4 French volunteers who come to support the project and give English lessons in the schools of the Kichwa communities. The volunteer will have a room in the house of the French volunteers, located in the community of Gunudel, 10 minutes walk from the center of Saraguro.
Activités et horaires
The volunteer helps every afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. The volunteer's schedule is decided according to the needs of the week: Activities with the children, support in the cafeteria, or organization of activities and specific events in saraguro or in the communities.
The volunteer can also propose an activity that he wants to set up during the week.
Règles
Alcohol, drugs, violence is prohibited in the foundation.
Volunteers must follow the recommendations of the members of the foundation.
Be open-minded and open to an intercultural approach with the children.
