You can be a cooking-lover, an artist, a fan of sport or just a curious guy interested in art, sport and history of another culture.
In this program, you will organize workshops, teach, coach and so on, but you will also join traditional activities of the community such as cooking, local wedding...

Chambre privée: Vous aurez un lit dans une chambre privée. En d'autres termes, une chambre rien que pour vous.

Dortoir partagé: Vous aurez un lit dans une chambre partagée, ce qui signifie que vous partagerez la même chambre avec d'autres voyageurs.

Petit-déjeuner: Vous avez droit à un petit-déjeuner gratuit, tous les jours de votre séjour.

Déjeuner: Vous avez droit à un déjeuner gratuit, tous les jours de votre séjour.

Détails du programme

The volunteers will be involved in some of the activities below or all of them, depending on their skills and interests, the duration of their stay and their energy. This will be the topic of a further discussion.
The PDS team will be with them to supervise and make the exchange with the community easier.

We are particularly looking for someone who can develop artistic activities (dance, drama) and new sports other than football.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring information, equipment and materials from their home country. They can also participate in buying the necessary equipment and materials in Zanzibar to help the development of art and sport. It’s an opportunity for them to visit local markets of Zanzibar and to be really involved in the artistic and sporty life of the organization.

Activités et horaires

- Creative activities: organize artistic activities and workshops for adults or children (wall painting, art competitions like "PDS Got Talent"…)
- Implement artistic classes: drama, dance...
- Participate in cultural events (Cultural Nights, Cultural Exchange Parties, Cooking Nights, local weddings...).
- Give dance and music lessons to the community (adults) and participate in traditional dances and songs.
- Organize round table discussions: exchange information about art, food, sports, community life, religion, economy….
- Sport: teach the football team or other sports.
- Assist the local Footbal Coach during the trainings.
- Improve the educational methods, the program and the players’ performance.
- Organize sport games and events such as Olympiads, competitions...
- Implement other sports (basketball...).

Règles

- Wearing long and appropriate clothes in order to respect the culture and religion of Zanzibar : long pants at least up to the knees, T-shirt which covers shoulders and stomach.
- It is forbidden to sleep outside of PDS accomodation during the mission. The volunteers must come back to PDS House every day before midnight (including week-ends).
- It is forbidden to bring or drink alcohol within the PDS House and to drink alcohol in front of locals in PDS surroundings.
- Smoking at the designated location in PDS House or in isolated places.
