We're looking for a communicative, organized, hands-on person with great English skills (both speaking & writing), who enjoys meeting and welcoming new people, making them feel truly at home.
Due to the extended 6-hour shift, in addition to the facilities already offered, reception volunteer also receives financial assistance.
Since the reception work requires longer training to align administration processes, 2 months stay or longer is our goal!

As your hosts, we offer:
- Accommodation in our well-equipped staff house, with 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen, to accommodate up to 4 people. The staff house is located right next to the main supermarket, near restaurants and cafes, and only 10 minutes' walk from Aldeia Caiçara. Sagres is a very safe town, where you can walk around freely at any time.
- Free breakfast every workday at Aldeia (5 days a week)
- Free access to our surf equipment, and rides to the beach (subject to availability)
- You can also relax in Aldeia's chill-out areas, practice yoga, and use our coworking space.
The shifts are well organized and structured by our management team, who is responsible for overseeing the training of new volunteers and supervising the shifts. They will provide task checklists and help maintain a high standard of service without overloading anyone.
Due to the extended 6-hour shift, in addition to the facilities already offered, the volunteer responsible for our reception also receives a financial assistance.
And since the reception work requires longer training to align service, communication, and administration processes, stays shorter than 2 months would compromise the experience. Therefore, we will prioritize applications from candidates available for 2 months or longer
Activités et horaires
We're looking for a communicative, organized and hands-on person with great English skills (both speaking and writing). Someone who enjoys meeting and welcoming new people. Our reception staff is the first face of Aldeia Caiçara for our guests, so we count with you to share or 'Feel at Home' philosophy with our dear guests and friends.
Shifts activities include:
- Reception Tasks: Check-in and checkout routines, payment control, selling our services, scheduling surf lessons, communicating with guests, and other administrative tasks, always working in collaboration with our management team.
- Quick Checks: Check bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor areas during the shift for a light cleaning (especially at night before the end of the shift, when the bathrooms tend to be a bit messier after everyone has showered to get ready to go out).
You'll be the right hand of our management team! We will be always in communication with the manager and heads of Aldeia, always working in partnership with them. We're always need to test new ways of working, to learn from mistakes and thus find even more efficient solutions for the day-to-day. And the better we work together, the more we can all enjoy our well-deserved time at the beach with peace of mind. :)
Respect for the working hours agreed with our volunteers is of utmost importance to us. We work hard to manage Aldeia efficiently, so you can focus on enjoying your rest time and days off. But we do count on a certain flexibility and openness to make small adjustments and changes to tasks and demands, as inconveniences and unpredictable events can happen. But we will always try to find solutions together.
6h per day, 5 days per week, 30h total per week, 2 days off per week, 2 months minimum stay

Aldeia isn't exactly a "party hard" guest house. Instead, it’s more like a chill place with a welcoming atmosphere, where you can truly relax, recharge and connect with amazing people.

We understand that the work exchange experience should be a win-win commitment! As hosts, we commit to providing you with comfortable accommodation and a great experience in Sagres. In return, we expect our volunteers to understand that this is a 'work-volunteer experience,' which requires a responsible and positive attitude.
We expect every team member to be respectful of the shared spaces, contribute to a positive living environment, and collaborate in taking care of the staff house to keep everything clean and tidy (no one likes to live in dirty and messy places, right?).
We do not support disputes, gossip, or physical or verbal fights in the staff house or Aldeia Caiçara between team members. Respectful conversations are always the only way forward.
Staff House Rules & Guidelines will be provided by our manager on your arrival day. Any violation of the Rules & Guidelines may result in being asked to leave the staff house and Aldeia Caiçara, and in the cancellation of the work exchange experience.
