I enjoyed working at the cafe. It reminded me of my time when I was still a student. I think this experience is really good for those who wanted to have some work experience. For me, I enjoyed meeting with other volunteers, sharing stories, helping each other and making new friends and learning about their cultures. I also had the opportunity to attend Dhamma classes at night and learnt new things from the teachers. Overall, it was a good experience, one that I will remember.

Similar to more than 25 years ago when I had some active years involved in Buddhist organisations and temples, I found a lot of familiarity. At the same time I experienced new things such as different ways food was carefully prepared and served each day and other tasks on the lead up to the summer festival. Although the stay was short I had a good experience especially meeting volunteers and Buddhist teachers from various parts of the world. I had the opportunity outside work hours to join Dhamma classes, meditations and reading Dhamma books.

I resided @ MKMC for 4 weeks & worked in 2 departments: 1 week getting the newly refurbished cafe cleaned & touched up prior to opening; 2 weeks in the newly opened cafe; and 1 week in the arts studio. All the staff that I encountered were respectful, appreciative & patient. I asked to change roles to learn new skills - even though I enjoyed the cafe work - and I was listened to. The food is varied, mostly very flavoursome, well labelled, nutritious and abundant; you can also help yourself to lots of delicious teas/coffee. The beach/estuary nearby and the surrounding woodland are stunning!

Esse voluntariado fez uma revolução em nossas vidas, que experiência maravilhosa! Além de mergulharmos um pouco conhecendo mais sobre o Budismo, conhecer as pessoas que moravam no local e os outros viajantes foi incrível! Estou ansiosa para conhecer o templo do Brasil agora que voltei!

A experiência é incrível. A interação com pessoas de outros países foi pra mim algo fantástico. Os quartos são ótimos. Equipe preocupada em que vc se encaixe na atividade que seja mais adequada a sua personalidade. Comida farta. Ensinamentos disponíveis. Uma grande área para caminhar e interagir com a natureza. Bom demais

It was such an experience to volunteer at the project! The highlights of my experience were the varied veggie food, living in a castle, the beautiful surroundings, the friends I made, and getting to meet the coordinator of the project Buddhism who is a v wise & peaceful woman. The work (Arts Studio) was difficult and stressful at the beginning, but as I got the skills I felt confident and enjoyed it. The people in studio are v welcoming and kind but the environment is very silent and talking while working is not well seen, we still managed to have fun <3 Thanks for having us the project <3

I had a wonderful experience. I came to stay for 2 weeks and ended up extending it to a month. The work schedules are well-organized, and the people at the temple are wonderful and very attentive. Even though it was quite busy, I really enjoyed working in the café, learning a new role, and practicing English all day with the locals. I highly recommend this volunteer opportunity. My experience was peculiar, however I enjoyed every second of it. There is not much to say except to state that this is a special sacred place and everyone is incredibly friendly and looking out for each other.

WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!! Living in a castle, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and generous people. I volunteered at the Art Studio for a month and I loved the opportunity. I was able to learn new skills, improve my communication and make friends from all over the world. The tasks were exactly as agreed and the food was always delicious haha. I highly recommend the experience for everyone :)
