Helping with renovating a cottage into a house.

The guest house are nice people and flexibility is given. I sometimes didn't really feel welcome tho as they keep it very much on a employee and employer basis more than really integrating you into the family. If you don't have a problem with that it'll work but I would discuss the sleeping situations before arrival

My experience in laval, Montreal, was wonderful, it was my first volunteer and the guest house were very patient with me, my English was terrible, but they always tried to explain me, I am very grateful to them, because they welcomed me into their home. Thank you for the delicious meals, moments and learning. I will never forget this wonderful experience.

The guest house, Rebeca and his little kid were welcoming and kind. They are very flexible, and it is easy to organized with them your free days. Although some days were a little bit large (normally you work more than 5 hours but you have more days off), they comply with the agreed hours. The tasks are different, so normally it could be entertainging and you learn a lot in the shop. House working is sometimes more boring. The good thing is that you have an apartment for you, sometimes you share it with other volunteers, so it is very fun.

It was an incredible experience. the guest house are very kind, they receive you very well and make you feel comfortable in their home, the place they assign you to sleep is very comfortable because you have your own space. The tasks they make you do are different every day and that makes it more entertaining, also the schedule is flexible and can also change. One of the things we liked the most was going to their cabin, it is quite an experience. We highly recommend the hosts.

First things first, I had an excellent experience. I was treated to events; reasonable, adaptable, previously communicated labor; sick time; delicious meals; and much more. However, I think I may be a bit of an outlier. My expectations for housing are pretty flexible, so when there were some troubles with plumbing, it didn't really bother me. Also, I had my own room. However, the other travelers there did not always have a reliably comfortable place to sleep. Because that was not my personal experience, I will leave it at that. I have run out of room, so feel free to contact me for more info.

It was my 1st experience and a great disappointment. There is a lot of disorganization. I was supposed to work selling products online but in the end I had to move heavy furniture and repair chairs. They used to leave me alone in the store from noon to 7pm without a lunch break, snacks or water… they really use you as cheap labor. I was supposed to stay 2 months but they kicked me out after 2 weeks, and I'm not the first to experience this… then I met 6 travelers and they all agreed that the experience in Laval sucked compared to other volunteer programs. I do not recommend it.
