Détails du programme
Muzanga Foundation is an NGO focused on community development projects near South Luangwa, specifically in sustainable farming, youth empowerment, and cultural heritage. To support these projects, we run a small guesthouse and a cosy campsite. As a Hosting Assistant, your role is crucial for our professional guest management and daily hospitality operations. You will work side-by-side with our great local team, who will work alongside you and guide you throughout your stay, ensuring deep integration into the organisation and Zambian culture.
Activités et horaires
This role focuses on the professional management of our guesthouse and campsite. We work in flexible shifts, coordinated with the team and guest needs. Our local team will guide you through all tasks to ensure you feel supported while learning practical hospitality skills. The team is also very eager to learn new skills in hospitality from you!
Your core tasks will include:
Guest management: Communicating with guests, handling bookings, and keeping the booking system up to date.
Reception: Welcoming guests and providing a warm, professional reception.
Operational support: Supporting staff during meal shifts and organising daily guest needs.
Marketing: Assisting with guesthouse marketing to ensure continued support for our projects.
Requirements: You must be between 22–40 years old, fluent in English, a confident driver with a licence, and comfortable using a phone or laptop for continuous online duty.
Free time activities:
Safari & wildlife: You can easily visit South Luangwa National Park. Short-term volunteers need to cover the park fee. You can also go into the Game Management Area (GMA) or relax along the riverbanks.
Cultural connection: You can join staff on project days or village tours. Our team sometimes invites volunteers to their homes, local soccer games, or church services, offering an opening to daily African life.
Social & leisure: Back at the headquarters, you can relax in our swimming pool or join our social evenings. We host fun nights like movie nights, a braai/pizza night, karaoke, game nights, or campfires.
Règles
Minimum stay: the minimum stay for short-term volunteering is 4 weeks (4–12 weeks), but we would give preference to a long-term volunteer on this position (3-8 months)
Commitment: flexibility is needed, with the aim of finding a schedule that suits you, the team, and our guests.
Volunteer contribution fee: the mandatory reimbursement fee for short-term volunteers (under 3 months) is USD 15 per day, for long-term volunteers it is USD 25 per day which covers your living costs. And also gives you some extra's to enjoy your time here to the fullest! (For instance use of the company car for long-term volunteers)
Respect and culture: we look for people who are open to new connections and cultural experiences.
Safety: safekeeping is provided by our night guard.
Visa & travel: you are responsible for obtaining the correct visa and covering all travel costs to reach the foundation.
