Programa detallado

As a Veterinarian or Animal Health Expert Traveling Volunteer, you’ll support VfAW’s animal-welfare projects in schools and communities across Arusha. This teaching-focused role includes preparing educational materials, delivering lessons on welfare and basic veterinary practices, and helping organize events. No surgery or clinical procedures are done.

Daily tasks include developing content with the team, teaching in classrooms or community settings, supporting outreach logistics, and coordinating with teachers, NGOs, and community leaders. Flexibility is essential as schedules and locations vary. Volunteers work up to 25 hours per week with two fixed days off.

We expect a proactive attitude, strong communication skills, and comfort in cross-cultural environments. Veterinary training (final-year students welcome) and practical experience with animals are required; teaching experience is a plus. Volunteers can continue contributing remotely after their stay.

VfAW provides safety and cultural orientation before travel, an in-country briefing, and ongoing support, including guidance on insurance, vaccinations, and emergency procedures. This position is fully volunteer-based and unpaid. Living costs in Arusha are approx. €300/month, covering accommodation, food, and local transport.

Reglas

VfAW is committed to your wellbeing. Before travel, volunteers receive a safety and cultural orientation, including local context, health guidance, emergency procedures, and key contacts. On arrival, you’ll have an in-country briefing and ongoing coordination support. We also provide guidance on insurance, vaccinations, and registration requirements and maintain clear protocols for incident reporting and emergency response.
