La experiencia

Hello! My name is Professor Orlando, and I am a lifelong coffee producer from Santa Marta, San Marcos de Ocotepeque, in the western region of Honduras. I am in my 70s, calm, respectful, and I enjoy sharing knowledge about coffee cultivation, agriculture, and rural life.
Visitors say I am patient, friendly, and always happy to teach. I speak Spanish and enjoy hosting international volunteers who want to immerse themselves in our community.

Requisitos

Inglés Principiante o Español Principiante

Entre 20 y 45 años

Admite voluntarios solos, parejas y dúos de voluntarios

Programa detallado

We grow a variety of crops:

radishes, onions, corn, cabbage, carrots, yuca, cucumbers, beets

abundant oranges, limes, and timber trees

and soon, a large harvest of ripe coffee


Some crops are already producing, others are in early stages.


Accommodation

There are two housing areas:

Right-side house (brick walls):
Fully finished and ready to host my family or international volunteers. Comfortable and clean.

Left-side building:
Currently under the final stage of construction. It will house coffee pickers during the upcoming harvest. It will be ready soon.

We provide:

Transportation to the nearest hospital if needed (18 km away, in San Marcos de Ocotepeque)

Volunteer Opportunity

Actividades & Turnos

Requirements

We need motivated volunteers, preferably men aged 25–45 due to the physical nature of the tasks.

Tasks include:

loading and unloading coffee sacks

assisting the cooperative when there is staff shortage

handling sacks weighing up to 150 lbs (≈ 68 kg)

light farm duties as needed


Schedule: 4 hours per day
Months available: December, January, February, March
Compensation:

Housing and meals included

Additional financial compensation can be discussed

Days and hours flexible according to agreement

No tobacco smell around the coffee, as it can damage the product
