Tim is a social and energetic host and was very responsive from the moment I wanted to volunteer. Overall it was a seamless experience and the host ensured that I was comfortable at all times. the hostel team are friendly and welcoming and make you feel a part of the community, and there are many opportunities to bond and connect with the hostel guests and the volunteer group. The vibe is social and laid-back and the work hours leave a lot of free time to explore Haarlem, or other nearby cities. 5/5 recommended

It was an incredible experience volunteering at HIL.. from the first contact with Tim, until my last day, I was very well received and felt extremely comfortable.. met the most amazing people, who I will take with me for the rest of my life !! Not to mention how cute and cool Haarlem is, you can visit a lot of places and other cities around.. thank you to the entire the hostel team (especially you Tim 🫶🏻) and all my other volunteer buddies.. you made everything much more special !!!!

The hostel was truly a home away from home. Everyone is so loving and sooo much fun to the point where it doesn't even feel like work sometimes!! It's one of the best experiences I've ever had and I'll hold close to my heart forever. ❤️❤️❤️ Until next time the hostel family. (;

I came alone without knowing somebody and from the first moment I felt welcomed and loved by everyone. I was impressed by how open they were with me and how professional they are in their work, as well as a really good attitude inside and outside of work. I was really lucky to have Tim as a boss because I learned a lot from him. I have no complaints about anything. I stayed for a month which became one of the most especial and unforgettable experience for me, very grateful to them. Totally recommended to come, sure you will enjoy!

The hostel really is a second home to me. All the staff is incredibly welcoming and respectful, the place is beautiful and the tasks are easy even though it was high season during my stay. This experience really helped me building social skills and become more independent, perfect volunteering for my first solo travel! All the volunteers became family to me, definitely friends for life! Highly recommend ❤️

I loved loved loved my stay at the hostel. I even extended my stay. Because of high season we slept in the theatre which I really enjoyed. Work was easy to learn and I especially enjoyed the Café Service Shifts. Haarlem is an extremely cute town with the perfect location between the sea and Amsterdam. Because there are so many volunteers it was very social.

Working at the hostel was the best volunteer experience!! The permanent staff are the sweetest, and everyone makes you feel so welcome and comfortable. Tim also has a great eye for the other volunteers, it's so hard not to love everyone and everything about this hostel. The city Haarlem was a wonderful place to be based for a month also, this is a great city and opportunity to meet lots of the hostel and other travellers :) It is a lot of work sometimes, but worth it!

Tim is the most amazing host I had the pleasure of working with. He is always available for a talk, or anything you need at any time. Also, he pays attention to every detail to make you feel as home as possible. He is fun, full of joy, will always be found with a smile, and is an amazing leader. Everyone who knows him would agree Special thanks to all of the hostel team, they make everything easier for you to become part of the team as smoothly as possible. It is 100000% recommended, definitely wanted to come back!

I had an amazing time at the hostel, I met so many amazing people and made some very good friends. The work is manageable and the hours are as described (sometimes less depending on workload). Tim was an amazing manager, always making everyone in the group feel comfortable and at home. The group dinners make it easy to bond with the other volunteers and creates a good sense of community. All the staff at the hostel also make sure you feel welcome and are very friendly. I'll miss everyone from this hostel and hopefully I can see them again
