Programa detallado

This childcare project in Kandy supports the daily care and development of children aged 0 to 5. Volunteers assist local caregivers with feeding, diapering, hygiene, and soothing infants, and help toddlers engage in play and simple English learning activities. Each volunteer joins a small team and follows a weekly plan that combines learning and recreation. Before starting, participants receive training on child protection, cultural awareness, and early childhood care to ensure a safe and meaningful experience for everyone.

Actividades & Turnos

Daily sessions: 3-hour volunteer shift (1.5 h = learning/English activities; 1.5 h = recreational/therapeutic play).

Infant tasks (under 1 year): diaper changes, bottle/feeding support, holding/cuddling/soothing, gentle singing/talking, reporting observations to primary caregiver.

Toddler / preschool tasks (1–5 yrs): feeding support, guided play (games, songs, movement), simple English lessons (flashcards, storytime), sensory & arts activities, encouraging social skills, supervised free play.

Weekly: receive weekly plan ≥5 days in advance; rotate in small teams; adapt activities to children’s mood.


Reglas

As this project involves working with little ones, we have a few special safety requirements.

-No photos or videos of children without written consent; no social media posting allowed.
-Do not give gifts or sweets directly; all donations must be approved and distributed by staff.
-Report any concerns or incidents immediately to the caregiver or coordinator.
-Volunteers must sign a protection agreement and complete mandatory training before starting.
-Training includes: child protection, cultural sensitivity, health & hygiene, basic Sinhala, and ethics.
-Dress code: modest, neat, and respectful of local culture; avoid offensive prints/logos.
