The schedule and tasks about volunteers' duties are not clear. I was expecting to learn about the host and it didn't happen. The volunteering is very boring because the restaurant is empty. Lili seemed nice but then she became very rude with me, for example, we were eating and she made this comment “how can you eat so much?” (For 3 spoons of rice). We went to the farm and she insisted I had to do everything. I ignored the situation, this was my mistake, we have all the right to express -with respect- the things that make us feel uncomfortable, I hope my experience can help new volunteers.

This was my first time working as a volunteer and it couldn't have started any better. There was something in the air when I walked through the door to Sarang cookery for the first time and I knew it was going to be a fantastic experience, and it was. LiLi, her mother "Mom" and Linda were all so welcoming and friendly that it felt like I was leaving part of my family behind the day I left. If you want to take a deep dive into Malayisian food and culture you should really consider going to this host. I promise you, you won't regret it! All my love to LiLi and her family <3

Lili and her family welcomed us with lots of good food and smiles, we helped with her Malasya the host project and repaired a few things in the restaurant, the place is very close to the city center and you can walk to the Petronas Towers, we recommend that you read the rules well beforehand and ask all your questions. Thank you very much Lili and your family for everything.

Li Li was an amazing host. We had a great time staying with her. I've got a challenging, but necessary task for her. The food that she and her team cook is so delicious!

Sarang means home - and that's how LiLi and her mother made us feel. It was my first experience and I loved it! You get a private room with a shared bathroom. Food is absolutley amazing! (no problem with vegetarian/vegan) LiLi knows a lot about the host and natural medicinie - you can learn a lot from her. She is very caring and helpful - I had a fever and she made my recovery 100 times faster thanks to her methods. We had a chance to get to know locals - we went to Farmers Market and tried some fruits that I never seen in my life. Very recommend this experience!

The name "Sarang" says it all! It nested people from different walks of life like family. Each one of us pitched in however we can & worked on a common goal -- getting to know ourselves, discovering our hidden talents , skills & gifts and serve its purpose, and to live & learn with & from each other. Sarang is, literally a home away from home. Lili turned out to be my sister from another world. That being said, she's obviously the nicest, coolest & bestest host ever! 😉

I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. Lily and her mother were some of the kindest hosts I've ever experienced and they truly made for my experience in Malaysia. I was so sad to leave, by the end of my trip I felt like I was leaving home. I learned so much about their culture and the true dedication and love they put in to every ounce of the restaurant and the host classes. They showed me parts of Malaysia you wouldn't be able to see or find just on your own and I met some amazing people through them. Can't recommend this experience enough!

During my time in Sarang I became one more of the family/team of the restaurant. Lili and his mother are truly welcoming and beyond the working times, they offered us to join them in some daily activities, so we could explore the real malay life: going to the supermarket, having breakfast/dinner in their markets... I stayed in my own room, and had everything I needed during my time there. The duties were variated and stimulating so I learnt a lot and I wasn't bored at any moment. Lili is really flexible and she is always open to new ideas for her restaurant. I highly recommend Sarang!
