General Maintenance & Handyman Help at a Castle in Ireland

Welcome to Killoskehane Castle — a grand old Irish estate with more charm than straight lines! We're restoring this historic gem bit by bit, and we're looking for hands-on, can-do helpers to join us on the journey.

This is a role for a true jack-of-all-trades — one day you might be planting in the garden, the next day sanding a window frame, laying flooring in an almost-finished bedroom, or putting the final coat of paint on a freshly plastered wall. The tasks are as varied as the castle itself, and we try to match them to your skills and interests whenever possible.

Think of it as historic DIY with a view.

Because we're dealing with an old building (and Irish weather!), plans can change quickly. What starts as a day for outdoor landscaping might turn into an indoor painting session if the heavens open up. Flexibility is key — but so is a sense of humour.

We’re not looking for experts, but we do appreciate people who are practical, proactive, and enjoy figuring things out. If you know how to use a drill or aren’t afraid of a paintbrush, you’ll fit right in. If you can tile, level a floor, or finesse the occasional creaky door — even better!

You'll be living right here in the castle, with your own space and access to the kitchen. In your free time, there's plenty to explore — quiet trails, nearby towns, and of course, the many quirks and secrets of the castle itself.

Every week brings something new — a new skill, a finished room, a solved problem — and hopefully a few good stories around the dinner table. You won’t get bored (but you might get a little dusty).

We decide on overall tasks at the beginning of the week and work through the list where we can.
