This summer, we have space for an enthusiastic volunteer who is experienced with work on a dairy farm and/or arable farm. You will contribute to our goals of turning this previously conventional dairy farm into an ecological mixed farm, and you will learn valuable new skills in the process.

Depending on your skills, you can help out with milking, care for the calves and youngstock, or other farm work like harvesting grass or arable farming jobs

Programa detallado

We started at the end of 2022 on a conventional dairy farm in Laren (Gelderland) with the aim of transforming it into a nature-inclusive and ecological farm. We have already taken big steps: the cows spend more time outdoors, receive locally sourced feed, and are strip grazing in herb-rich pastures. Additionally, we produce our own cheese and dairy.

We expect Worldpackers to contribute about 35 hours per week. That means you will generally have two days off a week. You are welcome to borrow one of our bikes on your free days and discover the surroundings!

You will participate in the farm household, which also means you join dinner with the other farm residents and regularly take a cooking shift as well (for 3 - 8 people, depending on the day). Cooking together with others is also an option of course 😄 We have several bedrooms for volunteers/interns in the farmhouse. You will share the bathroom with 2 other Wwoofers/worldpackers and interns.

Actividades & Turnos

What you do depends on your experience and the areas where you want to learn and develop new skills! There's a lot to learn about farming ecologically and about the agricultural transition. You will mainly help out with the dairy cows and the arable farming.

Possible tasks: You can (help) milk the cows once a day, you can do the daily animal care for the calves and the youngstock, you can help out feeding the cows, you can help out with strip grazing and fencing, harvesting grass (to feed fresh or for silage), and other farm jobs.

Reglas

You can only apply for this position if you have experience with dairy farming and/or arable farming.

We're looking for people that can stay for at least **two months**, preferably even more, as it takes some time to learn the rhythm and routines on the farm. Previous volunteers have all said they appreciated the long stay.
