🇬🇧🇺🇸el refugio is my new family now, I really miss them and can't wait to go back. Amazing volunteering experience to help you connect with nature, learn a lot about the animals and their habitat, and get to know the Ecuadorian culture and people. 🇪🇸🇪🇨el refugio es mi nueva familia ahora, los extraño muchísimo y quiero volver pronto. I absolutely recommend staying at the shelter!! 💚 I only stayed for one week but I wish I could have stayed longer. Yvan welcomed me when I arrived and Nancy made me feel like part of the family. They provide food for all meals and we sleep in different dorms so that there aren't too many people in one. Above all, working with the animals is more than anything you could expect. The monkeys will give you so much love that it will be hard to say bye. It's the experience of a lifetime, thank you so much!

Felt at home! Comfortable and fun experience. I only stayed for a week so I didn't get super invested, but it was an interesting and cool to work with all the monkeys.

Ich fand es alles im allen gut. Ich finde nur das es in den Schlafräumen und dem Bad etwas sauberer hätte sein können. Aber es war ein sehr tolles Erlebnisse und wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit dort. Unsere Führung war Maro(Maria) und sie war echt klasse und super lieb.

It was a really nice week at "the shelter". We prepared the food and fed the monkeys and also interacted with them. It is a nice place for monkeys! The stuff were also really kind and helpful at any time. Unfortunately the bathrooms and rooms were not so clean. Aswell as we had bats in the room and they made a lot of dirt. To feel comfortable it would be nice having these rooms always clean and to make adjustments that the bats can't come inside.

My Worldpackers experience was simply unforgettable! 🌿🐒 I traveled there with girls I didn't know before, and we connected instantly. Our tasks – preparing food and feeding the monkeys – were exciting and so much fun. The sweetest moment was with baby monkey Luna, who we even got to feed once – such a highlight! 🥹💖 The jungle tour was an amazing adventure, and the whole team was incredibly kind and welcoming. A huge thank you to Maria, our guide – she wasn't only the kindest, but truly the best guide ever! 💚 Time flew by, and I'd love to return. Highly recommended! 🙈

I had a great time volunteering at the shelter! Living in the jungle, getting to know the local food and culture, helping with the monkeys (they're so cute!) and spending time with the team and the other volunteers. The hosts made this place feel like home ❤️

Wir haben Essen für die Tiere vorbereitet, die Tiere gefüttert und 1x Kochbananen für uns zubereitet. Wir hatten zwei ganztägige Ausflüge, diese waren sehr schön; aber wir wussten vorher nicht, was genau auf uns zukommt. Die Gruppe hat super zusammengepasst und Maria, unser Guide war auch super nett

Nancy & Ivan were both incredible hosts & really care about providing a welcoming & friendly atmosphere. We had lunch every day together like one big family & the volunteer work was a once in a lifetime opportunity that benefits a great cause. Everyone speaks Spanish & some English but it is a great way to pick up on some language while you're there too. Thank you guys for everything- my experience was wonderful & I hope to see the shelter again!

One of the most delightful adventures of my life. The caretakers are incredible, the hosts are remarkably kind, and the monkeys are wholesome, mischievious, and full of life. When an unexpected hiking accident led to an emergency ER visit, Nancy/Ivan immediately set out to help me get care emergency care. Afterwards, they thoughtfully tailored the remaining days so I could safely enjoy the last few days of the adventure. I would recommend this trip to literally anyone with a spirit of adventure. I'll definitely be returning someday.
