I absolutely loved working for the host, so sad to be leaving! Getting to be out in the Chili river every day taking photos was so beautiful and the team were really great to work with. Jose is super lovely and makes you feel safe and at home in Arequipa, whether that was during the work days or afterwards exploring the town. It felt like having a personal tour guide so we spent lots of time meeting his friends, attending hostel parties and getting access to discounted the host around Arequipa. My Spanish has improved massively during this time. Thank you for such an unforgettable experience!

José is really nice and wants you to feel good during your stay there. But to be honest, it is a bit dirty there. So I didn't want to use the kitchen there, which is also fine cause food is mostly included and also quite cheap here to buy. Sometimes it is also a bit stressful when there are many the host & I had to work more than 15h per week (actually never really knew when I was supposed to help and when not). But I liked the work, so it was fine. Also my free days where mostly very spontaneously. Which can also be nice if you want to do something a specific day, he usually can make it happen.

Jose is a very active, adventurous and open minded person. Jose invites you into his hobbies, circle of friends and way of life. I painted some murals for his space and in exchange got to go in the river. Water the host is an intense and unique experience and the guides are well trained and make you feel safe. While I was there, half way through the river was closed to water rafters so that made it complicated going to the water. Alea , the trainee water the host guide was very helpful in explaining to me how everything worked at the host. We also did lots of salsa dancing classes!
