Tuve la oportunidad de trabajar en este voluntariado de conservación de tortugas marinas y fue una experiencia increíble. Me motivo la posibilidad de contribuir a un proyecto que ayude a la comunidad y al medio ambiente. En mi estadía participé en diversas actividades como limpieza de playa, recolección y reubicación de nidos de tortugas y patrullajes nocturnos. Fue increíble sumergirse en la naturaleza y trabajar en un proyecto que tiene un impacto positivo en el planeta. Además, disfrute de un intercambio cultural con las personas que conocí, lo que enriqueció mi experiencia aun más.

Manuel y Alba son muy apasionados y saben como transmitir la necesidad y la importancia de este proyecto a lxs voluntarixs :) Aunque hay muchas horas libres, es un muy buen sitio para desconectar de todo y conectar con la naturaleza y con unx mismx. Paciencia! Porque las tortugas no siempre salen, pero por eso hay que ayudar más que nunca!

Por loemos mi experiencia no fue nada agradable ni cómoda. Era un proyecto por el cual esperé mucho tiempo y con ansias, el cual resultó lejos de mis expectativas. Para nuestra mala suerte cuando llegamos al lugar ya no habían tortugas (algo que esta lejos de ser controlado por el equipo), pero el trabajo que realizamos no era nada relacionado con estas, nos tuvieron haciendo un hoyo para un futuro baño y limpiando el jardin. Por otro lado en el lugar daban la electricidad 2 horas al dia, puesto que llega a ser sumamente peligroso para el tema de los alimentos, por su cadena de frio.

Hi Sofia. We're obviously disappointed that you and Nicolas (not a member of the Worldpackers community) didn't enjoy the activities as much as the other volunteers, many of whom have left 4 or 5 star reviews here for the same period.

In rural Costa Rica, many projects do not have any electricity at all, and we managed the project since 2006 without the need for a refrigerator. We are blessed that we have a generator, and as it says clearly in the volunteer manual, the electricity is available for 2 hours per day. Most volunteers are appreciative of this.

The volunteer manual also makes clear when the nesting and hatching seasons are, and what kind of work we do outside of the turtle season. We greatly appreciate the effort that are volunteers make in helping us to expand and maintain the infrastructure that we need in order to protect the turtles and deter illegal egg poaching. Our volunteers are normally very happy support is with this work.

We would recommend that next time, when you work at a Worldpackers project, that you read the volunteer manual prior to arrival, and that you come with an open mind and ask yourself: how can I help this community?, rather than just thinking about what you should be entitled to.

Volunteering at ACOTPRO was truly amazing and special experience, the place itself is in a very special location and helping with the turtles is nice, also the other volunteers and locals were all amazing people and it was fun socializing, and connecting with the nature (lots of animals around camp). Camp needs some maintenance, and the room doesn't have a floor what is kinda a problem but overall it's is a really good place and would recommend this volunteering experience to everyone.

Beautiful place in nature where you can meet new people and get in touch with local culture. I only wish host was more involved( you wont get to do stuff if you dont ask them few times.) All tasks were easy and a lot of free days.

I spent 2 amazing weeks at ACOTPRO camp helping with the turtle project! Alba and Manuel were so welcoming and passionate, always happy to explain each step of the turtles' lifecycle. Most members spoke Spanish, which was great for practice and learning local life. The work was easy and meaningful – night patrols, beach/area cleaning, turtle releases, nests exhumation. The camp between jungle and beach was peaceful with great meals and comfy beds. No WiFi and limited electricity helped connect with nature, and other volunteers! Thank you ACOTPRO for this unforgettable experience! Pura vida ☀️

From the very first moment I arrived, Manuel and Alba were incredibly welcoming and always ready to help with anything I needed. The work itself is very light, with plenty of free time, but the activities dedicated to the sea turtles are truly amazing — you get the chance to learn so much about them. I genuinely recommend this program to anyone looking for a meaningful and relaxed volunteer experience. is a great place to connect with nature, meet wonderful people, and enjoy a really positive atmosphere. AcotPro quickly starts to feel like a second family and a second home. Pura Vida!

I had an amazing time at ACOTPRO. The hosts Manuel and Alba have been very welcoming, kind and made sure all volunteers were comfortable. Helping the sea turtles hatch and releasing them into the ocean was a truly magical experience. I learned a lot in my time there and would definately recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning, environmental impact and a chill lifestyle.

It was a 10/10 experience, lovely people, good food, very beautiful environment and good atmosphere to relax and hang out. Very interesting work, you learn a lot and have fun at the same time. Alba and Manuel are so lovely and always ready to help and doing there best for providing a good time!!! Everyone in the Team is so nice! You feel very much at home. Would recomend 1000% ❤️
