We loved our time at the guest house! The people and the scenery are absolutely lovely, we made lots of friends and enjoyed exploring the lake. Prepare yourself for hard work - we walked into this experience thinking it was a volunteer programme, but this is a paid job and a business, so there are expectations of quality work. However, there is great flexibility depending on your skill set, and we tried out a variety of roles. Everyone was very accommodating and you receive good training, so no need to worry about being an expert. Own transport recommended! Overall we highly recommend the guest house!!

Toni and John run an exceptional hotel. I'll miss John's fabulous homemade bread and the glacial lake at my doorstep. All the staff are all such great people and thanks to our manager T, work and training went smoothly and I felt totally supported during my stay. As my first world packer experience, I couldn't recommend this enough.

Overall, such a fun place to stay. I loved the activities I got to experience while there! Beautiful hikes nearby, by car, or hitch-hiking. The owners are happy to show you the bikes and kayaks when you ask. I would do it again if there was more forgiveness with the timing of tasks. The time limits on certain tasks felt unrealistic for newbies and left no room for making any small mistakes. For example, putting a cover on sideways in housekeeping. A small mistake can set you back for the whole day and make it feel impossible to catch up on all the tasks. Besides this it was enjoyable :)

Hi Camilla, it was a pleasure having you at Kinloch. Thank you for the feedback and it is something that we will definitely take on board moving into the summer season. We definitely realise expectations for casual staff vs more permanent staff need to be different and we will endeavour to more clearly communicate that moving forward. Happy travels!

The owners had the mindset that the staff were tryna cut time or eat too much of the meal provided. The task were the same that staff did, so I was doing the same for way less. They calculate the money too a little funny because they charge you 67$/night so in my first week I was in minus because they didn't give me that much hours. Nice place but greedy hosts. For the manager it was the opposite she was a good leader and we felt valued by her so it would be nicer if the owners weren't involved. I would recommend applying for a job through their website so it won't feel like exploitation.

The guest house is a beautiful location to spend a few weeks. The people I met during my time were the highlight of my experience. The work was always enjoyable, and there are plenty of hours going if you want to earn a bit of extra money here.

The guest house is such a special place. The team is very welcoming and we had a ton of fun together. Since it's pretty remote, there is a strong sense of community with everybody. The family that runs the place ensures everyone is comfortable and are very open with their space. The nature and surroundings are beautiful and there's lots of opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. The work is good experience and you're given lots of training and guidance. Someone is always around if you need clarification or help. Expectations are laid out clearly in advance and they're willing to work with your interests.

The guest house was amazing! the guest house team is happy and friendly, work was easy and not hard, not many hours, the food was amazing, and the whole place is beautiful and clean! The manager Portia is the sweetest person in the world, Toni the owner as well, always happy, and John is always smiling ;) thanks for these days! i hope come back here again

Getting to stay at the guest house was overall a wonderful experience - I got to fully connect with nature and experience life in a breathtakingly beautiful and remote part of the world. Everyone I worked and lived with was kind and welcoming, and I'm very grateful for the time I got to spend there. I do think this experience is better for short-term travelers rather than those looking for long-term commitments, since the 20 hours worked in exchange for accommodation do feel like a bit much considering what the other workers I lived with paid for their own rent. Overall, I loved my stay at the guest house!
