La experiencia

My name is Apsara Karki, and I’ve proudly called this beautiful community home for the past 25 years. I’m a registered trekking and tour guide, and in 2009, I started this volunteer program out of a deep belief in the power of connection, compassion, and cultural exchange.

Raised with strong values of hospitality and care, I created this space to offer visitors a meaningful experience of Nepali village life—where giving and receiving go hand i.

Programa detallado

You would stay in a volunteer house next to the nunnery/monastery, overlooking beautiful Kathmandu valley and lush forest. You would wake either at 4am and be a apart of morning meditation or you could wake u around 6am for breakfast. During the day you will teach 7am-2pm (each class is 45minutes). The teachers already follow a English curriculum which you would teach. If you like to spend time in kitchen, you can spend some time helping prepare the meals for nearly 100 nuns/monks and help with clean-up afterwards. The afternoons you could spend playing with the kids or you could spend the afternoon exploring Kathmandu (7km away for Thames area where there are lots of shops and activities).

On weekends, join our three-hour of Sister's cooking classes with a local Sister to learn traditional Nepalese and cultural dishes like Dal-Bhat, MoMo, Sel-Roti, Dhindho (or Dhido), Jerry, Rice Pudding and many others.
