The crew was amazing, everyone was really nice and welcoming. The place to stay is not the best and the job was pretty hard, so it's not for everyone. But overall the vibed were good

Hey! We are exactly as our ads say: our small business offers basic accommodation in a bush environment with very limited phone signal (!) for a whole community of travellers. To able to do life here we do expect everyone to pull their weight and yes the job can be hard and yes you will have to put your hands in rubbish bins. Living off the beaten track requires

Make sure you ask the questions before you pull up somewhere and commit to someone!

To be honest, the first week was hard to get into it. No reception, the accommodation was different then expected and doing bins took some getting used to. But after a while it felt like home. Everyone is so lovely and Anna and Kit even invited us for a cocktail night to there home! I absolutely recommend to stay there. It's a totally different lifestyle but it's wonderful if you give it a chance!

The camping is an absolute lovely place to have the opportunity to stay at and disconnect from technology and really enjoy the surrounding nature. There are lots of activities available at your display and as long as you put effort into wanting to make things happen, they absolutely will. The work varies but isn't too bad at all. It's a great opportunity to get to know some locals and really immerse yourself in what living there is like.

Although the camping didn't meet my initial expectations, it was a good place to stay and felt like it's own little bubble far away from reception and the rest of the world. As there were neither surf or yoga lessons, organised events or parties during my stay, us volunteers had to take it into our own hands to make most of it. As we grew closer as a team, the work we did got fun. However, the tasks at the camping are for people with strong nerves as the sorting of trash and cleaning sometimes got a little intense. Still, I'm grateful to have met amazing people, seen wildlife closely and surfed! :)

This place is perfect to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature and create friendships! 🌿🌞It's the perfect place to surf! 🏄🏻‍♀️ BUt, we didn't have any surfing or yoga classes, ... surfboards are available which is really cool if you already know how to surf! The work is quite intensive and sometimes disgusting, be prepared to have to sort out each waste of the campsite, but with a good team the work passes more quickly :)

haha, yep waste can get dirty, but we can't stand the thought of what would happen if we didn't do our part! Imagine the mountains of landfill... This is why we approach it from an educational perspective as well: by doing the 'dirty work' we hopefully learn to appreciate nature more, lose our 'disposable mindset' a bit and gain a passion for re-using & recycling :) And it means Waves has less than 5% of landfill deposits each year! Woohoo!! Thanks for helping us reach those goals and for having a great teamwork attitude about it!

I'll make sure to clarify on the profile that yoga classes are a seasonal offering and that surf lessons are available through us (Kit & Rich are excellent teachers) but as per requests of the crew instead of scheduled since we always have different abilities on the crew and some don't need lessons!

My experience at the camping was an interesting one. The best thing about it was meeting the other crew as everyone is super nice and welcoming. However, I did have some problems with management as it felt sometimes like we were not being respected as their volunteers as there was minimal interactions with the managers and the actual crew. It felt as if they did not really care about us or how we were feeling about our experience at the camping. Other than that, I still think the camping was a unique experience and the other crew really make the time wonderful!

Hey Mackenzie! Appreciate your feedback and want to let you know that we have made a few changes to our approach to crew introductions and selection criteria to suit the low season better!

I do want to clarify that we as hosts and management at Waves care so so deeply about you and everyone that passes through. I'm sorry for leaving you to feel like that.

Sometimes it's a lot to juggle our own life as new parents, with a new home and a property that is still under construction, a business that requires attention 24/7 and staffing body that continually changes because we choose to run with a volunteer program. But since it's our choice we do need to make sure we can give it our best attention and so we will step up our game for sure!

The camping is an amazing the camping, with a lot of nature and the ocean with huge empty beaches on the other side of the road. It is a very nice place to disconntect, have fun with the crew and guests. The bins and bathrooms need to be done everyday, which means a lot of recycling and cleaning. I would recommend this experience 100% and thank you for everything.

The camping is truly a special place to work and stay. You can feel the importance of the place and how much it means to all involved. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, working, getting to know the rest of the crew and the amazing environment. I cant recommend this experience more.

You will meet the most amazing people, spend time doing things you never thought you could and learn so much about yourself. the camping is the freedom you've always wanted, to do, learn and grow as much as you'd like to. As with many things, the more you put in the more you get out.

This was absolutely a unique experience for me! The minute I got there I felt so welcomed already. During your stay there you will grow so close with the crew, since you work, sleep and eat together, they will feel like family. You will da lot of activities with them, like hiking, surfing, games or dance parties. Since you don't have internet access there really is no need for your phone. So just use it for some pictures for your memories ;) Since it was such a nice community there it was really hard to leave them all but I hope to be able to visit them again one day!!
