Overall, I loved being at La Comarca! My fellow volunteers were amazing and we all got along! The work was usually communicated the day of, and usually was within the three hours of working. The location was also great, being close enough to town, and along a refreshing river. The volunteer rooms were ok to be in, except they are not super well-ventilated and many of my things got moldy. The main thing to be improved would be mature communication about work and expectations. Alex was gone while I stayed at La Comarca, which was maybe the reason for the problem. Great experience overall though

Hi! Thank you so much for your review and for sharing your experience 😊 We’re very glad to hear that you enjoyed the place, the other volunteers, and the atmosphere by the river. We’re sorry for the communication issues during Alex’s absence; we take your feedback seriously and will work on improving clarity around tasks and schedules.
We really appreciate your positive energy and contributions during your stay, and we’re happy to know that despite these details, your overall experience was pos

I had a truly great time with the other volunteers – we became like a family, and these connections made my stay so special! The work was enjoyable, and the 3-hour schedule was respected. However, during my stay Alex was away, and Marco was in charge. Some volunteers including me experienced issues with his demands and lack of organization. As an English speaker with limited Spanish, I often felt left out of important information, even when I mentioned it many times. On my departure day, Marco didn't say goodbye, which left me feeling unappreciated despite the many positive moments of my stay.

I’m sorry you didn’t consider that the night before your departure the truck broke down, I lost my backpack, and still stayed with you until 2 a.m. even though I had to work the next day. You left early, and although I sent you a goodbye message, I never got a reply.
I always tried to speak in English and shared everything in both languages in the group.
I regret your frustration and truly hope you enjoy the rest of your journey.

I enjoyed my time at La Comarca and the property is beautiful. The tasks themselves aren't too difficult, but there were some issues. We weren't staying with Alex, the owner. Instead, his best friend Marco was running the place while Alex is gone. Marco is a great guy and he's trying his best, but I feel like we were taken advantage of. A lot of things on Worldpackers weren't the reality, like for example the workload and the amount of freedom we had. Overall still a good experience though

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and for enjoying the beauty of La Comarca 🌿. The 3-hour schedule was always respected, and volunteers were free to use their time as they wished. I only asked that not everyone left at the same time, so the place wouldn’t be completely empty. This way, everyone kept their freedom while also helping us stay organized.

If you want to surrend yourself with beautiful nature and some cool volunteers this place is nice while doong some light tasks around 3 hours. However, be prepared volunteer rooms are not very comfortable and hot😅 better to discuss with the host before. I suggest from the first day try to understand all tasks as detailed as possible to avoid any confussion later. If you have the expectation to learn more about construction and surf on your free days I suggest make this clear to the host before you arrive :) Enjoy La Comarca :)

La Comarca is a pleasant place. When we arrived, we were supposed to stay in the volunteer rooms, but like all the other volunteers present, we quickly chose to stay in the domes ($20 per night). Unfortunately, during our stay, the vehicle provided was not working, which limited our ability to go out. Additionally, Marco, who welcomed us instead of Alexander, was injured after a fall. He couldn't take us to the bus stop or really assist us on the lodge, which complicated our stay. The work is simple but spread out throughout the day, so it's not possible to have a full free half-day.

My time at La Comarca was good. Marco, who was a substitute host for his friend Alex was incredible, making our stay at the camp enjoyable. The hours were not long and we had time to get the bus to the beach ect. Here I was able to make many friends that I continued to travel with afterwards. Unfortunately there was some miss communication between Alex and the volunteers as we were unaware that both of the cars were broken and were unlikely to be fixed. We had to walk 40 mins to the bus (unachievable in the rain) Many of us left early because of this. However, we did enjoy the stay.

The place "La Comarca" is really nice, surrounded by nature and a river. Acutally I didn't see much in the area around because the car which you can normally use is broken. There is also no local person there, Alex is away for some months and didn't tell me before. His friend Marco ist taking care of the place and he is lovely. He just don't know the area a lot.

La Comarca is a beautiful place in the nature. It is in a calm area. The work is easy and task like agreed to. Food is provided and is cooked by the team. Unfortunately the car was not working and it was hard to go to town and other places. Alex was also not there during our stay, so there was no local person with the perfect knowledge of the area. Instead Marco is there, he is a great person.

We had a great time and made good memories. Most of the tasks take less than 3h since they are simple and easy, if you want to help out more there's always something else to do. Alex is a great host and flexible so if you want to change something, he will listen and try to find a solution. We made our own meals with the food provided by Alex, he doesn't buy meat but you can buy it on your own and cook it. The place is a bit farway from town, the nearest bus stop being 30 minutes away walking, but there's a second car that volunteers can use. Amazing experience overall.
