I spent 2 weeks as a volunteer. The house has great potential, close to the sea and with great spaces. Unfortunately it is very dirty and unkempt and the owner doesn't seem to be interested. We didn't have tap water for a few days (the house's water reserve isn't proportional to the amount of people the house can accomodate). The working hours were respected but sometimes the work required may not be suitable for the volunteer. I was warned that many volunteers before me had left before the scheduled date and I don't understand why no one wrote a review. I hope the general conditions improve.

I gave 5 stars to this experience however I want to be honest so future volunteers have a good idea of what to expect upon arrival. The host in beginning can be a bit off putting but with time as you get to know him and he gets to know you he displays a lot of kindness. The work is fair and hours are respected. The property is beautiful and the host works hard to make sure volunteers have clean water to drink and gas for cooking your meals. I would come back here and feel I created a great relationship with the host. Make sure you hike the mountains, visit beaches and the national park.

Finca Mendonza é um lugar muito bonito, ideal para quem quer ter uma experiência real com a natureza! Você pode contemplar diversos animais em todos os lugares, e em especial um macaquinho que tem um rugido que parece um leão. Quem não conhece se assusta, mas ele fica na copa das árvores e faz um barulhão! A casa é grande e os quartos são confortáveis. Não há mercado por perto, mas você pode se planejar e ir à Cahuita ou Limon fazer compras, o ponto de ônibus fica perto! Eu gostei muito e voltaria com certeza! Obrigado ao Jan, Rafael e Ashley, fiquei muito feliz com a experiência!

My experience was really incredible! The place is very nice and the work is not difficult, Rafa is a wonderful person always available and attentive to your needs as well as very good company. The beach is 3 km away and can be reached either on foot or by bus, very nice! I am happy with my experience, thank you very much

This place has set the bar very high in my opinion. The house and the owners are wonderful. The stay was great, and after three weeks it almost felt like home.

It was our first volunteering experience, and we couldn't imagine a better start. Rafa, who takes care of the villa, is a really nice and warm person. Even with the language barrier, he was kind and patient with us. Jobs weren't hard, gardening, sanding, and painting. We were happy to have a private room with a bathroom, and the kitchen area was equipped with everything you needed. Garden was a paradise. Cahuita was about 4km away, we recommend renting bicycles. I am grateful for this experience. Thank you very much.

It was a nice experience at the finca. We worked exactly 3h/day -1day off- and the tasks were varied and tailored to the person. Rafa is the one who live in the finca and building it, he give us as well the work. he was very nice, showed us everything about garden, construction and support us with his organic food that grows in the garden. Jan was not there but he was very responsive, whenever there was a question. After work you can do what you want, the beach is close and the jungle behind the finca. There are also cute cats and dogs on the finca. We will defenetly recomment to work here

I was with my boyfriend for 3 weeks at the finca. The place is BEAUTIFUL, surrounded by nature, it is really an immersion in the environment of Costa Rica. Janus, the host, was very clear and kind about the house rules and helped us with everything we needed. We loved spending time with Ashley, his girlfriend, who was always sweet and made sure we had everything for breakfast. Rafa, the volunteers' supervisor, was flexible with our working hours. We had a private room, with a comfortable bed. The work can be a little bit hard but it's very dynamic! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING ❤️

Jan is a great host I actually stayed an extra 2 weeks, love the property great accommodations. if you needed anything jan would accommodate you.. close to town close to beach you also have a bike to use as well .you only work 3 hour's a day the rest is your free time to do what you want. it's a very chilled atmosphere good vibes I would defcome back some day.. thank you jan..

My wife, two young children and I had a really enjoyable experience here. The work was varied and the boss was flexible with regards to what hours we could work (I worked 'overtime' to get more days off). Talamanca and Cahuita are amazing locations and with working days being short we were able to explore and utilise the local area and beaches. The other volunteers were excellent and we all enjoyed making some new friends.

I know, I am just too busy and tired, burnt out, have to earn like 4-5000 USD on the computer to get this going, so no energy left.
