Overall I had a very enjoyable week at the camping Safari. The place is beautiful and so peaceful with lots of downtime to enjoy the nature. I helped with mainly housekeeping in the mornings - the work wasn't too hard and tended to not take too long. The timings they gave for starting/finishing work wasn't always accurate and found myself waiting around a lot however it didn't bother me too much and could always chat with the staff while you were waiting. The meals for staff are very basic and can get very repetitive having rice for breakfast lunch and dinner everyday. The tent was comfy.

This was my first worldpackers experience and i couldnt be more happy with it. Noel is really knowledgable about elephants and leopards. The food was only sri lankan food wich was a bit too spicy for me at time. I did some housekeeping and crafts. wish i could have worked a bit more but noel was not there during half of my stay & i think his employees didnt really know what job to give me. Had some fun at the pool during the hot time of the day. There wasnt any volunteer during my stay so it was kind of lonely at times. Overall i would recommend if you love nature and need time away from city

Tanya thank you for your contribution at our camp.
Volunteering can be some times alone and it's up to you to interact with our staff who always treats Volunteers as guest.

I spent 2 weeks at the camp, such a good experience! Nice staff to work with, really friendly. Noel is a super host, a really interesting guy with plenty of crazy stories to tell you. The tents where the volunteers stay are not too bad, private abilities, comfy bed, if you like camping you'll like the vibe ! On your free time you can go to the town which is 4km away from the camp, or just simply relax at the camping pool. About the food, it's quite repetitive, rice n curry most of the time but that makes you try local foods I recommend this experience Good opportunities to go on safari !

We had an amazing experience in this volunteer, our host and the employees there were super friendly, attentives, flexible, easygoing and respectfull . Our tasks were mostly maintenance and gardering, with a schedulle of 7:30 am to 13:30 pm with breakfast and breaks in the middle, and when you finish you have lunch. They provided tasty local food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They allow you to do as many free the camping as you want, you only have to pay for.the park entrance fee arround usd 35. Totally recommended!!

We had a fabulous experience at the camping Safari, the employees there were super friendly and willing to help you, Noel was super attentive and helpful. We slept in a large tent with a private bathroom, the tasks were mostly gardening and maintenance, simple and entertaining. We started at 7:30 am and finished at lunch time, with breaks in between. Nearby you have a small town called Kataragama, with a beautiful temple and is 5 km for the camp, but you can take advantage of the two days off to go to the beautiful beaches of the south wich are at least 3 hours by bus.

Actually the place is very nice, you can feel an atmosphere totally different, hear the animals at night, see all the green around you is a good experience, it's a bit difficult to speak with the staff due to they don't speak English, but when I arrive, there was no place for me to stay, so I have to move my things from one side to another, i was trying to explain what I was uncomfortable with and I feel ignore and disrespected for the attitude of the host. I would adjust the communication to be more specific and more respect.

Due to adverse weather conditions some tents were damaged so on arrival we had to ask her to occupy a luxury air-condition Lodge tent given to customers,
And on the 3rd day when she had to move to a normal staff tent she wanted to become a unpaid customer for the rest of the stay,
Also it is very clearly stated all volunteers get free accommodation and all 3 meals, they can join guest on safaris for free but buy the park tickets,
She did 2 safaris and refuse to pay the park tickets,
So was trying a complete freebee.
So it was obvious her expectation were different,
We wish her best of luck.
