Programa detallado

I am currently living off grid in a teeny tiny mountain village which is only accessible by foot (a 45 minute hike!). This place is very close to my heart; it is magical, and my family inheritance, and most of all it needs care. I want to make my home here, but I also want to turn it into something full of life and use the space to its full potential! The vision for the future is creating a Centre for Arts, Spirituality and Natural Living; a village with permanent residents, as well as long/short term visitors. We will live as self sustainably as possible, and organise diverse workshops/events/ courses etc. This is the very basic (and far away) premise of where things are going, but of course as life has taught me, I have no idea what the actual outcome will be!

Gardening, construction, carpentry, plumbing - any kind of outdoor work, are greatly appreciated and needed. Please tell me all about your skills! But I want to make it clear that as long as you are motivated, independent, proactive, creative and solution oriented I greatly appreciate anyone with two hands wanting to join this project. Everybody knew nothing at some point :) And more than anything this is a great and vast learning opportunity!

As a volunteer you are becoming a part of my very real life, and that requires a certain level of respect; this is not an "experience" curated for you, and it is not an opportunity for free travel. This means, only apply if you really want to be here and are ready to meaningfully contribute. I am ready to be a great host, but I expect you to have a good work ethic and be group oriented in return. You will have lots of free hours, thus I expect you to really be present, focused, and hard working when asked and not see our exchange as transactional.

Actividades & Turnos

As a general volunteer you will be everywhere! You will support team leaders in their projects, and have to be quite flexible lending a helping hand wherever necessary, and being able to think on your feet. Depending on the season, current projects, and the size of the group, your tasks will vary a lot. The work hours take place from 8am-1pm, Mon-Fri.

You may be asked to help in any of these areas:

A. Indoor renovation/maintenance

Everything here needs renovating/fixing in big or small ways. Some things are more serious, like water damage, leaking roofs, or mold problems. While others are more superficial and can be solved with a new coat of plaster and paint. This work includes upcycling/fixing old furniture, building new furniture, replacing floors/roofs, repainting/replastering walls, diy, carpentry, sewing/upcycling/repolstering fabrics etc.

B. Garden & Animals
We have a small veggie garden and some chickens to take care of!

C. Outdoor renovation/maintenance

All the land needs maintenance too; cutting grass, dealing with unwanted overgrowth, cutting down trees. Outdoor landscaping such as rebuilding stone walls of terraces, footpaths or outdoor patios/balconies are also needed.

D. Guesthouse Support
To generate an income we also run a small guesthouse - you will be asked to help with housekeeping as well as preparation of group meals. Summer is high season, any other time of the year will see very little action in terms of number of guests.

All volunteers will share responsibilities of everyday tasks/general household chores i.e. cleaning of bathrooms, kitchen, and common spaces.

Reglas

You first 10 days will be a kind of "trial period." This means, at some point I would like to have a conversation; if you realise its not the right place for you, or its not as you imagined, it will be the time to tell me. And from my side, if I have concerns with your behaviour or work, I will voice them, and may consequently ask you to leave. On the other hand, if things go well and you enjoy the lifestyle I will be very open for you to extend your stay!

We are living off grid. This means life is not always convenient, or easy. Our resources (water, electricity, gas, diesel, food) are precious and limited. You will need to be conscious and mindful about your consumption everyday, and you will need to be respectful of the fact that my budget as a host is not infinite, or even very large. If you cannot respect the realities of life here, we will have to have a hard conversation…

And you need to be conscious of the fact that we are living in community! Everything you do or don't do affects ALL of us. An attitude of individualism and lack of consideration towards others will never work. Living in isolation, the human contact that we do share is very poignant. To have harmony amongst the group is extremely important, and is everybody's responsibility. You need to be aware of what you are putting into this social space, whether negative or positive; open, honest, direct, mature and respectful communication is key.

We have a strict no drugs policy!

Any form of discrimination, violence, or erratic harmful behaviour towards the people, animals, or nature here will not be tolerated. ANY form of discrimination - big no go. This is an open and safe space for all and if anyone is made to feel uncomfortable here by you I don't have any problem in asking you to leave.
