La experiencia

We've tons of jobs on the 'must get around to fixing / making that' list, and of course caring for the dogs takes priority so these things just pile up.
You will need a decent level of DIY skills, be competent and safe with power tools, and not be scared of dogs!

At times we may not have things to make or fix, so then you'd be helping with the dogs alongside the other volunteers - walking, grooming, cleaning up after etc.

Programa detallado

This is a volunteer run charity in Bansko, Bulgaria. Initially we were caring for street dogs in abandoned buildings and on the streets, looking after their medical needs and feeding them. The opportunity arose two years ago to rent some space to give shelter to vulnerable puppies, to take care of their medical and everyday needs. Currently we look after the dogs in the shelter whilst looking for their forever homes. We have a small network of fostererers, both in Bansko and in the UK. Additionally we continue with the work of neutering street dogs and providing feeding stations for them around town. Alongside this we focus on education, and BSD juniors came into being a year ago at the local school. They visit the shelter to spend time with the dogs and also do fundraising events with us. We all continue to volunteer and do the best we can for these dogs

Actividades & Turnos

There are a number of simple tasks we always need completing, from making new kennels, to fixing fencing, to making shelves for storage, and anything else we come up with along the way!

You may be fostering a dog in the volunteer accomodation during your stay.

Reglas

4 weeks is the minimum stay, but preference is given to people joining us longer term - you and the dogs will get more from a longer stay, confidence and the bond strengthens between you
