Experimenta la elaboración del cacao en las selvas de Toltepec

Staying in the camping was a nourishing and lovely experience… Don Lupe is such a great host, as her wife Marina and son Heber. Expect to work on the field (is not like sitting at reception in a hostel), and learn about cacao farming from a lifetime expert. The food Marina prepared on daily basis was excellent. The place is perfect to disconnect from society (still you can get a colectivo and go to the beach at any time), and connect with nature. Definitely worth the experience. Gracias Lupe, Marina y Heber por todo, sois geniales :)

The camping is an amazing experience and I'll remember my time there forever! The jungle is absolutely incredible, and waking up everyday to the views of cacao and banana trees (with the occasional chicken strolling past) has been one of my favourite experiences in Mexico. Marinas cooking is so so good and I will miss the meals at finca lots! As long as you're prepared for working in the sun, the working hours are super fair and it's amazing to learn about the local traditions!

I had a great time at the camping. We got up early every day to work and always had the rest of the day to relax by the river and hang out. I would highly recommend staying here if you're looking to learn about cacao and put in the work. Don Lupe is so knowledgeable and has taught me so much! A few tips for incoming volunteers: bring sunscreen, work clothes/shoes, and bug repellant.

My experience with Don Lupe was definitely a learning experience as he spoke beginner english and my spanish comprehension definitely needs improvements. im saykng this as a disclaimer since i realize the language difference may affect my perspective of him. I think he is very funny and has a way of trying to lighten the mood which i admire. It said that all i needed was beginner english or intermediate spanish to enter, but i wish i would have known that basically no english was spoken by the host at all. im so thankful for the other volunteers present that could translate.

Gracias, amigos! Ya los extraño!

My experience at the camping was amazing! The work amount and variation is just right. Thank you so much Lupe, Marina & Heber for accepting me. In my second week I helped Heber with a few English classes. Heber, keep up the good work! :) For future volunteers I would tell them that eventhough there is no more cacao due to a hurricane, Don Lupe is very knowledgeable, so you can still learn a lot. And I would like to mention the river where we would bath after work, it is amazing!

Lupe, Marina, and their son Heber were amazing hosts! What I will miss most is Marina's amazing food, and taking a bath in the river after work everyday. They made us feel so at home. One day we were just talking about eating pasta with tomato sauce and the next day that is what we got for lunch without even saying anything. Lupe even bought us the ingredients to make pizza. He is a great teacher and always wants to keep improving and learning. I would 100% recommend coming to volunteer with them.

I loved my time here! Lupe & family were so kind and welcoming and have a great sense of humour! I was able to work on a variety of tasks and Lupe loves to share his knowledge. Lupe is expanding his farm into new ventures, so he is open to ideas & skills you have that might help him achieve this! Lupe is working hard to make accomodation more comfortable, there is now a seperate bathroom and bedrooms, but be aware that the facilities are basic & may include camping. intermediate Spanish skills is important to communicate & share ideas. Would love to return here soon! Thanks Lupe & family!!

I had a great time learning how to farm and make cacao! What an amazing experience! Lupe and his family were so nice, welcoming and helpful even though we spoke different languages. I got to take some cacao home and I am looking forward to enjoying and sharing it with my fellow cacao lovers!
