La experiencia

I am Guillaume, a 32-yo Frenchman who just bought a house in the unrecognized Republic of Pridnestrovie (between Moldova and Ukraine, de jure part of Moldova).

I need some help to renovate the buildings mostly, and in the garden.

I can offer you a unique experience in a country that receives few foreign visitors. In your free time, you are welcome to join me in my activities or organize your own. I can help you to plan your trips!

Programa detallado

The whole hosting thing is new to me. I am used to volunteering abroad but have never been a host myself. I promise to do my best!

I see this as a cultural experience. You'll be considered as a friend from the first day, a friend that would give me a hand with the renovation of my new place. When we're not working, you can organize your time as you wish. I can help you to plan your trips, give you advice on where to go or what to do. If you're staying a bit longer, I will be happy to show you around in my car or by bike. I love the region and know it quite well. You are also welcome to join my regular activities, should it be meeting with my friends, hikes in the forest or anything else, really.

I like the idea of sharing meals. We can cook by turns or together. You can use almost anything in the kitchen (save for alcohol and some products I might save for special occasions).

Actividades & Turnos

You will help me with the renovation tasks about 25 hours a week. We will likely help in the morning so that you can have your afternoons free. Most likely 5 hours a day for five days, but I can be flexible and change the schedule in order for you to take longer trips in the region.

Each day we will set some objectives for the next day.

Some examples of things that need to be done:
- fixing roofs,
- sanding/painting/fixing windows and doors,
- building small walls to fence the property,
- building a terrasse,
- making some pieces of furniture for outside,
- renovate the cellars,
- work in the vegetable garden, the orchard, or the vineyard...


After shifts, feel free to do what you like. You can fish in the lake in front of the house, walk in the forest, go biking... the world is yours. We can also share some activities together.

Reglas

Please respect the place (no litter), local people (including neighbors, friends, etc.), and others' belongings. Be clean and keep things clean around you.
Please don't drink too much at home. Alcohol in the country is abundant and cheap. This is not a reason to get wasted every day, drink within reason.
No drug! The law is very strict here, so do not introduce illegal drugs on the property. If you do, I will ask you to leave immediately.


Accommodation is sort of basic. You will have your own room, but we don't have the same standards as in some Western countries. Please note that we use a compost toilet and solar shower. Please do get in touch before you make the decision to stay with me, and feel free to ask any question you'd like. This is a rural experience in the Pridnestrovian countryside, not a fancy hotel in a capital city. :))
