My experience at the host was incredible. Rick is a great host who is always looking out for you and the local people of Lac la Hace are spectacular. The friends close to the host became part of my family and I became part of theirs, without a doubt I am very grateful to each of them. The work was very relaxed, making pizzas, serving at the bar, all very nice. The town in general, although it is not very big, if your idea is to connect with nature, it is undoubtedly the best place.

It was really nice learning how to make pizza and getting to know the locals at the host! There were not too many costumers so you had time for online working and go hiking/ running around the lake. Just go out and explore on your own because there are many nice trails and wildlife to see just in walking distance. Special thank you to Heather, Marie and Randy and Larry :)

The people in the area are great, Heather is amazing. When I was there Rick was away for most of the time, but he was good for the short time we had together once he was back. I will say that this placement is a bit different to how it looks on the profile and was not exactly what I was expecting. I was working some long hours without a day-off (10-12 hour days) so the host can stay open. So there was basically no opportunity to do other things. There were not many customers so I was alone and not busy a lot of the time. It might be a bit different in peak summer but this was my experience.

the winter is tough there really isn’t a lot to do outside , so you end up spending most of your time in the cafe , without many customers it can get boring unless you have other hobbies or part time work online to do , but otherwise the weather limits many outdoor activities in the winter , the lake is frozen from December or January until April usually ))
You can walk on the ice people even drive cars and snowmobiles on the ice in winter !

From the beginning rick behaved in a very kind and helpful way. He helped me in all the setbacks that occurred. The community is very loving. I learned many things as well as an improvement in the command of the language. I'm going to miss you so much Rick. See you in Mexico. You're chido 🤍

Rick is an awesome host! I had a lot of fun in Lac La Hache, improved my skills, learned how to make great pizza and met great people who will always have a special place in my heart! . It's a great place to learn how to work in a kitchen, even if you don't have experience, rick teaches everything! the work is easy and fun, and you have plenty of time to learn. I definitely recommend this experience for anyone looking for some time in the nature, peace and a great community.

I am so glad that we ended up in Lac La Hache! Rick and everybody who we met are very kind and cool. We learned a lot about cooking, how to fish… in our free time we could jump in the lake, ride a bike or spend the day in the canoe… we have the best time and I couldn't say thanks enough for Rick! Heather, ricks friend is also great, she always went to the host to make us delicious dinners and spoiled us a lot hahah it's the perfect place to rest and be in the nature! I will miss everything and everyone 🥹

I can truly recommend visiting this place. We met a lot of locals who were interested in getting to know you and sharing their own story with you. They also offered to take you out for some activities. We had a friend from Rick working with us her name is Heather and she was a patient teacher who cooked dinner for us every night. She was always trying to make the time exciting. She is fun and a very caring person which i really appreciate. The work was not to much and easy. Its a great opportunity to get a first impression of how the kitchen works. We are greatful for the experience.

During my stay Rick was not there but I always communicated with Heather, who was in charge of the host and Bill who lives in the same house where you will stay. I recommend the place if what you are looking for is a town with few people, it is a super relaxed atmosphere, there are days when you will do very little in the kitchen and others where there will be more tasks like Fridays. The schedule is very comfortable but there is not much to do within the town, on your free day you can go skiing, walk around the lake, go to the nearest towns if Heather can take you.
