I had a very great time here even though the weather wasn't always great. But thats why its very nice that the common space is very comfortable to relax in and/or talk to people. The other volunteers are very nice and we often did diners parties together or played mario cart. You are living in a bigger dorm but you have a curtain ans its really not that bad. The facilities are clean and the working hours where often only 2 and sometimes we even finished in 50mins but that might vary depending on season and how many volunteers there are but overall very very fair. I had a really great time👍

I had a lot of fun staying at Santiago! Everyone working there are incredibly welcoming, nice, and super down to earth. I enjoyed exploring the Hiroshima area which has some good day trips. Was my first time volunteering, and I highly recommend here for it ☀️ You will be living in a 20-person dorm, but it's no problem since people are quiet. The work is light, and you will quickly get into a routine. The hours are easy and will usually be a little shorter than the allotted time - meaning you have lots of time to spend as you wish!

Santiago Guesthouse was a great experience. The team is very nice and welcoming and I felt right at home. The long term guests usually join as well and know a lot about Hiroshima. Also great opportunity to practise Japanese with them. We often did Dinner parties, Game nights, celebrating special events or went to local Festvials. The work hours are short and the work is not difficult. We often finished way ahead of time. The schedule is flexible and it is usually no problem to make a few days trip somewhere. I am sad my time there is over and I hope I can come back someday.

The hostel is in a good central location and the workload is fair so you have lots of time to explore. You often get more than one day off in a row so you can do little breaks away from Hiroshima city which is great. I hadn't stayed in a large dorm before this trip but people were generally quiet and respectful. The hostel can get quite busy and there are usually quite a few volunteers so plenty of opportunity to meet people. The reception staff are lovely and communicate well with the volunteers.

My stay in Santiago was good. Unfortunately many of the staff are not very social so it was a bit hard to connect with the other workers. The cleaning in the hostel is very easy and it's done very quickly. However, apparently I was doing it wrong/not quick enough and on my very last day of cleaning I was taught how to do it properly. The hostels location it's perfect. It's downtown so very easy to get food/ shop and even do day trips. Even thought my experience was not the greatest I would still recommend this hostel.

The job was easy and gave you plenty of free time. Because there was a lot of Spanish speakers it sadly felt divided among the volunteers. But I liked the hostel, it had a great common area and a rooftop!

I really liked volunteering in Santiago the hostel. I was gonna stay for one month and I ended up staying for two. Actually I left because I already had plans for the winter season, but I didn't want to left. The place is really cozy, I really felt at home. The best thing was the people. The other volunteers, some permanent guests and the girls who work at reception were really nice! They helped me a lot. The work is easy and you have a lot of free time to explore Hiroshima or near places. I hope I can come back in the future!

This was my first volunteer experience and I couldn't have asked for a better place for that. Hiroshima is an amazing city that I cannot recommend enough. The hostel is right in the heart of Hiroshima, so the perfect place to stay. The volunteer job was easy, making beds and cleaning the common spaces for 1-3 hours. Once you're done with the tasks you get to finish your shift! The other volunteers were great and there are Japanese people staying long term if you want to practice Japanese. We also made dinner together a few times so it felt like a very nice little community!

I originaly planed to only stay two months here and the hostel in gereral. But my time here was so amazing that i'm still here and will stay the hostel for a year. I was able to make a lot of new friends and I feels like we are one big family, sometimes even going on trips and having dinner together. I was taught how to cook japanes food by a long term japanes guest. And whenever i struggeld with all the bureaucracy the hostel my Colleges where there to help.

My plan was to stay only 3 months in Santiago Guesthouse but at the end I decided to stay for six months! Everyone is super welcoming and you get to know a lot of people from other places. Also the work is super easy, just a few hours a day and you always have the option to change days if you want to da longer trip somewhere else. Santiago really became a family on my time here, and made me enjoy Hiroshima and it's surroundings. Would love to be back some time in the future :)
