Off-Grid Mountain Village Seasonal Position: Housekeeping

We need 2 people in July and August to form the Housekeeping Crew! You will be supporting our Guesthouse Manager in running our small guesthouse. The majority of your tasks will revolve around cleaning and preparing the guest rooms, bathrooms, and common spaces, as well as doing laundry, and smaller cleaning projects. Summer is high season for us, with August being the busiest month of the year, so your help will definitely be needed!

Programa detallado
Although the majority of your work will revolve around cleaning and housekeeping, the Guesthouse Manager may at any point ask for your support in other areas of work related to the guesthouse if we are going through very busy times. Being part of the guesthouse team means you should be ready to jump in and support one another in whatever capacity is needed in regards to the smooth running of the guesthouse as a whole.
As Housekeeping Crew you will need to have excellent organisation skills as the property is very big, and every house and guest room is uniquely set up (i.e. different cleaning needs for different rooms, specific bedding and towels for specific rooms), you'll need to be able to pick up the way of things here quick! You will also need great communication and collaboration skills to work effectively together as a team. And of course, you are required to have excellent and efficient cleaning skills. Previous work experience with housekeeping is a huge plus, although not a requirement if you feel you understand the standard of work needed and are able to bring that to the table. You should also have a great eye for detail, and understand the essence of hospitality. If you love cleaning, meeting new people and making people feel at home by creating a cosy ambience then this is the job for you!
Actividades & Turnos
A typical day as housekeeping will start with a quick briefing with your Guesthouse Manager - all check ins and check outs will be communicated. Some days you will find yourself working independently, while others you might be all 3 together. It is important that you can work well in both situations! Your working hours will be filled with the daily cleaning of all shared bathrooms (5) and common spaces, guest room preparation, laundry, and any other smaller cleaning tasks. We currently have 10 guest rooms available; 8 of these rooms can host 2 people.
The trickiest thing about this role is that the daily hours can sometimes vary a lot, depending on how many guests we have, guest arrival times/departures, or any special needs. This requires you to be flexible with your schedule, and think fast on your feet, if a situation should arise that calls for this. The standard volunteer hours in exchange for room/board are 5hrs/day, specifically from 8am to 13pm. All housekeeping must be completed within these hours. All guest rooms should be prepared in the event of last minute bookings. We may also at times ask you to support the kitchen team with cleaning and organisation tasks if your own workload and schedules allow it.
A "side quest" of the Housekeeping Crew, if your workload and schedules allow it, would concern itself with transforming the cleaning products we regularly use in the guesthouse into biodegradable and sustainable alternatives. This project would mostly need a lot of research; finding out what's possible and available to us, as well as effective, and trying to implement that in Bognago. Every year we make new changes that bring us one step close to a regenerative sustainable everyday life, but we also still have a long way to go.
Reglas
Working in Bognago also means understanding and adapting to the challenges of its remote off-grid location. Being a 45 min. hike away from civilisation, and another 45 min. drive to the closest big town, means the every day life and considerations that go into that are quite different than what you may be used to - and what our guests may be used to as well!
Alpe Bognago is a very young volunteer project; our funds are therefore extremely limited, and the guesthouse plays a crucial role in that. The guesthouse is the main and only source of income for this project; taking care of it and having such a huge influence on our guests experience through your work is therefore a huge responsibility and should be treated with care.
We will constantly wish for your initiative and input to make this place and your experience here the best it can be, to also work together with us in up keeping the standards of hygiene and cleanliness around the property.
