Programa detallado

One of my daughters has Down syndrome and needs supervision; she is a young adult and is very independent, but should not be left alone or unsupervised. For this position, you should help with general tasks as much as is reasonable in return for board and lodging, in addition to covering planned and available shifts in my daughter's rota. You should have experience, training or interest in a caring profession like teaching, working with children, healthcare, or care for the handicapped. Interest in Waldorf/Steiner ways of thinking, awareness of issues around inclusion and independence, and skills in gentle communication and guidance are also relevant.

Actividades & Turnos

Volunteers tasks depend on the season and household needs. Any help with housework and practical tasks is welcome, so that everyday life runs more smoothly. Volunteers should be comfortable around children and teenagers and able to act responsibly and calmly.

Tasks which everyone may do:
- Help with housework, tidying, laundry, meals, and general routines
- Assist with guests and guest rooms when needed; this mainly involves helping with breakfast, preparing rooms and welcoming guests
- Help in the garden, especially May–September
- Assist with small projects like painting, decorating, or practical repairs
- Supervise and interact with the children as needed, mainly as a friend/family member

Working as a care assistant involves encouraging and supporting my daughter in housework and ADL/everyday tasks, trips to the gym and swimming pool, encouraging her to walk and be physically active and to eat appropriate foods/amounts of food, helping her to participate in enjoyable and meaningful activities, and being a friend and support.
