We had a great time volunteering at the shelter. María and her family made us feel at home, it's inspiring to see their commitment to saving the endangered Pudu population Our day-to-day tasks: feeding the animals (pudus, goats, alpacas, chickens…), raking dead leaves in the enclosures, maintaining the small vineyard… The tasks varied a lot and we never got bored! In our free time, we had the option to use the hot tubs, swim/kayak in the lake, hand-feed the animals, go horse riding, or look at the stars at night If you love animals and nature, this is the experience for you!

I had a wonderful time at the shelter. Maria Julieth, her family and the whole the shelter team were so welcoming and passionate about their work. The property was beautiful with lots of Pudus, horses, birds and dogs to care for. Work shifts were flexible and met my expectations. It is about 20min drive from the nearest town of Cauquenes. There is a lovely lake you can sit by as well as hot tubs and horse riding to fill your spare time. There is private accomodation with your own bathroom and kitchen I would recommend for anyone wanting to meet Pudus and explore Chile's nature
