Programmdetails
For our artist residency Casa Tagumerche on La Gomera we are looking for nice and reliable people to look after the house and the artists. Minimum stay is one month. We have some hosts who have been coming back for years. But sometimes life circumstances change. That’s why we’re now looking for one or two new people who would enjoy this extraordinary opportunity.
Aktivitäten & Schichten
What we offer:
- Living in a beautiful house in a spectacular location.
- Private large room with views of the Atlantic.
- Private bathroom.
- Car for (limited) private use.
- Get to know interesting artists from all parts of the world.
Regeln
What is to do:
- Receiving guests, explaining the house.
- Planning and organizing grocery shopping, the shopping itself is done online, the supermarket delivers three times a week. You need a credit card for that.
- Cooking and washing up are done together with the artists.
- Cleaning the rooms when guests change, preparing the rooms for the next guests. There are only four rooms in total, and they’re easy to clean, with tiled floors and sparse furnishings. Guests typically stay two to three weeks. During their stay they will take care of their rooms.
- Washing bedding and towels when changing guests. Keep the kitchen and house clean, water the garden.
The daily effort for this: Approximately two to four hours.
Guests pay a room cleaning fee at the end of their stay. This money goes directly to the host.
We don’t see living together with the artists, cooking together, etc. as work; that’s more the concept of the house.
Good English language skills and a driving license (manual shifting) are absolutely necessary.
There are open ponds of water, terraces without railings, steep stone steps into the garden, so the house is not a place for children.
We have our own eco-sewage treatment plant that works imperceptibly and perfectly. This means we are not allowed to put toilet paper in the toilets. And no leftover food in the sink. Blockages would quickly occur...
We are not connected to the electricity grid. We only have solar energy. This works great for living, lighting, refrigerators, cell phones and laptops. What doesn’t work are powerful devices. Hair dryer, straightener, iron etc.
We get our water directly from a source. It is not chlorinated or otherwise treated with chemicals. Perfect drinking water, we don’t have to buy water and carry it into the house.
