Volunteering at the hostel has been a good experience! It's located in a very touristic area, rain or shine you'll step into a sea of tourist once outide. However, it's also surrounded by nature, making it great for hikes on a sunny day, and a bus ride away from the sea side. Alan is a great host, often bringing snacks and sometimes organizing cookouts;) The hostel is quaint and feels like a little hub for travellers to meet. The job consists mainly of cleaning and making beds, which can easily be done in an hour. The only downside is that during the winter season, it rains a lot.

I enjoyed my stay although I arrived during the rainy season. Alan is a very kind and the work at the hostel consists in cleaning and spending time with guests: I met nice guests and did some activities with them which made my stay really enjoyable. Be aware that you will have to take the bus to Riufang to do your groceries and Taipei takes actually more than 1hour depends where you want to do and go there . Be aware that your day of arrival is your first day off. Have fun and enjoy this little cute town.

The host is a dream to work with, very easy going while also being diligent and thorough. He also brings snacks from the local markets some days 😝. It's in a good area with lots of culinary options and hikes.

I loved my experience at the hostel! The town is small and touristy, yet so magical at night when the lanterns light up. There are lots of hidden spots and natural scenery to discover. Lots of cats too! The hostel work itself is as expected. The hours vary depending on how many guests there are, and can range from 1-4 hours if done thoroughly. The boss, Alan, is very welcoming and brings lots of yummy snacks for volunteers to try. He also comes in most days, so he is easily accessible if any issues arise! I made so many good friends; I'm sad to leave :( Definitely volunteer here!!

It was a great experience to work at the hostel, the host is friendly and welcoming and we did many group activities together with the other volunteers, there is much free time to explore and visit the surroundings and the aerea is very nice if you love nature, the hostel is cozy and it's easy to connect with other travellers

Volunteering at the hostel is a great experience, whether you have experience or not! Alan is welcoming, friendly, and makes sure you feel comfortable. The work is well explained, and communication is excellent. You have plenty of time to enjoy the area, go hiking, enjoy the proximity to the ocean, and discover a multitude of things. I can only recommend joining the hostel if you have the opportunity.

Jioufen was such a fun and unique experience! The host, Alan, is a great person, nice and hospitable. He cares about the hostel deeply. If you have any questions you can always ask him. He leaves us freedom, is flexible with shifts and days off. Tasks are easy to manage and you get detailed introduction in the beginning. The team is made up from both international and local volunteers so it's a great mix to meet people from different backgrounds! Hostel itself is small, nice and cozy. You get all the facilities you need. The only con is the lack of sunlight in the reception.

As a volunteer, this was the best hostel experience I've ever had. If you're looking for a place that's a hostel but feels just like home cozy, warm, and comfortable , I highly recommend the hostel. I'm truly grateful to Alan for making my last three weeks so happy and fruitful. I look forward to the day I return with all these precious memories in my heart. Thank you so much😊

I enjoyed my time at the hostel. Work was easy and didn't take too long so you have plenty of free time. Located in the mountains near nature and lots of hiking trails. Not a very social hostel so a good place to relax and find peace. Cozy and friendly environment. Thanks for everything!

I had an amazing time here. the hostel is a gorgeous place. The work is simple and can be often finished in less than two hours. Alan is a great host, with interesting suggestions on how to spend free time. Highly recommend.
