My first experience in Africa couldn't have been better! With Hunter we planted, painted, went to town, cooked local food, visited the Materuni waterfall and even rode the scooter to the project gate. He's such an amazing host — super open, caring and full of stories. He trusts you with everything and makes you feel at home. Truly unforgettable! Just note: it's not the place if you specifically want full-time farm work or to learn every detail of farming- but it is the place to learn so many other things- and you should really bring extra money for the cool activities!! 🌿💛

Hosting Maria was an absolute pleasure and truly unforgettable. She is kind, talented, and full of positive energy. Even when she faced a challenge with her luggage delay on arrival at the airport, she stayed calm and positive until everything arrived. Her creativity and the beautiful flowers she painted on our walls brought so much colour and happiness to our space. Maria was always friendly, hardworking, and respectful. We’re so grateful for her help and highly recommend her to any host!

For those who like a bit of off-the-beaten-path adventure, with fresh air and a fantastic view of the project. You can hear crickets, roosters, galagos, birds ... Hunter cooks brilliantly and conjures up delicious dishes from almost nothing, he is a very nice host. Working was nice and easy, some watering, some painting, some everything. Yes, there are mosquitoes, but where aren't there them? Here they are mostly only at dusk and it was (beginning of September) very bearable. I'll never forget this week. P.S. don't forget sunscreen, it is very near the equator:)

Hunter and the farm were an amazing way to get to know a bit about permaculture and the hakuna matata farm life. I felt very welcome since the beginning and got to experience farm life - the only down side is that I won't get to eat the zucchinis that I planted! Hehehehe I highly recommend the experience, it was a pleasure to be part of the project. Hopefully I'll get back in the future and see how everything has developed. Best of luck Hunter!!! ASANTE SANA and Hakuna Matata 😊

My time with Hunter at his farm was incredible! Hunter, his nephew and his friend are all super lovely and made sure I had a great time! Learning about Tanzanian culture, their way of life and how they farm was so incredible and interesting. As well as everything else the food was also all so delicious and I got to try many new fruits, vegetables and meals!

We feel so lucky to have had Alicia with us at our eco-project here in Kilimanjaro. She brought such a beautiful energy — always kind, always ready to help, and always willing to jump into every activity with an open heart. From working on the farm to joining our community projects, Alicia gave her best in everything she did.

Thank you, Alicia, for being part of our family, even if just for a short time. Your spirit, your smile, and your hard work made a real difference.

What a peaceful stay near Mount Kilamountjaro.. was very interesting watching and learning about planting and permaculture.. Hunter and his nephew were so kind and welcoming, and cooked me delicious meals.. I'm very grateful for the experience and can't wait to come back here to see the progress.

A huge thank you to Jamer for spending the past week with us at our eco-project in the Kilimanjaro countryside Farm at Weruweru village on the foot of mountain Kilimanjaro! Your kindness, hard work, and positive energy truly made a difference, and we’re beyond grateful for your support. Your thoughtful review on Worldpackers means so much to us, and we hope it inspires more amazing volunteers to join our journey of building a sustainable future.

My stay was peaceful but sometimes a bit boring since there wasn't much to do. It felt more like a homestay than a volunteering experience. Hunter was always respectful and supportive when I reached out, and I really appreciated that he organized a 2-day safari trip for me. That said, I would have welcomed more proactive communication and effort to involve me in the project. Also, one thing I found odd was being asked to lend him money, which was never returned (thankfully, it wasn't a large amount). On the positive side, his dog Roxy is super sweet and I miss her a lot!
