Even before starting volunteering here, Nisansala was so much active in checking on me, helping with details about traveling in Sri Lanka and being there for any question. Once I arrived at the the school, she took care about me as I was member of a family. This is how I felt, coming as a guest and leaving as a family member. The kids are sweet, they understand English, the premises are good ones, and they treat the children so nicely. She, her husband and their daughter are such lovely people, always taking care of us, cooking amazing food, telling us about local culture. Much love, Gabi

This experience gives you the opportunity to be in touch with local habits, children, an amazing family that treats you as you are part of them. The children are simply amazing. They are sweet and they trust you since the beginning. I am glad I did this experience and they helped me beyond what it was expected.

I couldn't have made a better choice taking this volunteering, it was one of the most incredible things I've ever done. I had the opportunity to teach 4 and 5 years olds. They are greatful, smiling, respectful and willing to learn from foreigns volunteers. Absolutely rewarding. The room where you stay is attached to the the school, it is spacious and comfortable. Nisansala and her family are absolutely wonderful. They'll make you feel very comfortable and will give you the best tips for visiting the area. I wish I had stayed much longer and I eager to return.

I had the pleasure of working in this the school, and it was absolutely amazing! the the school, particularly Nisansala and her family exceeded my expectations. Nisansala is incredibly passionate and dedicated, going above and beyond to ensure volunteers feel comfortable. She organized excursions for us and generously shared her knowledge about various cultural aspects. Her commitment made my stay truly unforgettable. Teaching the children was a phenomenal experience for me. I cherished every moment and felt inspired to make a positive impact. I can really recommend this place!

I had a wonderful time at Kandy the school. The host, Nisa and Malik were great. It was really a home away from home. The kids at the school were great, very curious to learn. Though I don't speak the local language, the kids were able to communicate very effectively in English. Nisa helped arrange local tours and transportation arrangements to visit the places nearby which was a great help. I even had a chance to taste local food and cook with her, which was an amazing experience. Would definitely recommend KGIS for an amazing experience.

Didn't respect what we agreed on Told me last minute (when I was already there) that I had to pay 60$ instead of 40$ because I was staying less than 3 weeks, which happened because the school closed last minute for elections so I could have done just 2 instead of 3. When we talked about it the night I arrived she didn't let me talk, it was hard and upsetting. I still think that she may be a lovely person (I didn't meet her really because I went away the next morning) and the school and the kids lovely BUT this is not how you behave.

We strictly maintain a smoke-free environment at our school, which was clearly communicated in our program guidelines. Unfortunately, Erinco showed disregard for this rule, which demonstrated a lack of respect for others in the school community.

Additionally, Erinco made a last-minute request to bring his girlfriend, which was not part of the agreement or expectations outlined for volunteers. Our school is not a club or hostel; it is an educational institution with rules and regulations that must be respected. Volunteering here is about contributing positively to the learning environment, not for personal enjoyment or leisure.

While we welcome volunteers who genuinely wish to help and follow our guidelines, Erinco’s attitude did not align with our program's values. We have retained records of his communication and can provide them to clarify this feedback if needed.

The passion and commitment to the children of KGS is absolutely clear with Nisansala and her family and teachers. The kids are great but aged 3-5 is an busy age so you need to have a lot of energy even just for 8-12noon! From a work-exchange perspective some things to consider: there is no wifi but the signal is good. If you are a digital nomad you will need to go to Kandy city on the bus every day (only 80 rupees and 30 mins). Also, you need to assert your skillset, the staff aren't mind readers! Don't be afraid to make suggestions if you have experience in teaching, work with kids, or orgs.

We are very sorry that you are having problems that no one else has. You took the opportunity to work with us on the recommendation of a friend and because of you we had to change the age limit of worldpacker and we do not contact anyone for less than 2 weeks and you have days with us. It was only on Jakob's request that he expressed his willingness to work for less than two days. We have not mentioned anywhere here that wifi facilities are provided. Since you came to our company and contacted worldpacker, I think you have no understanding about it.
"In the future, refrain from contacting volunteers based on personal recommendations. Our approach will be kind and considerate."
thank you
