Gebühr bezahlt für: Vorteile für Reisende

Beschreibung: Volunteers contribute €60 per day, to cover maintenance and financing of our organisation. This covers facilitation, utility costs & rent for the research base, breakfast & lunch for the volunteers, a living wage for our employees as well as transportation to the field whenever needed. We are not government funded or aided, and although we try to keep costs to a minimum, this fee is what enables us to keep going.

Programmdetails

Volunteers are expected to work 3 days per week for 4 hours (12 hrs total weekly), with 4 days off. A working day starts at 9:00 & finishes at 14:00. Working days are flexible but you will usually be free on weekends.

Aktivitäten & Schichten

Activities include:
- Picking up donations from the Collection Points
- Preping collected plastic (eg. removing lebels & glue, washing etc)
- Sorting plastic by type and colour
- Using the shredder to turn plastic into raw material
- Operating machinery to create brand new items
- Providing assistance during school visits and demonstrations
- Brainstorming new products

*All volunteers are required to take up a cleaning chore around the base every day to ensure a clean & healthy living environment.

Regeln

Requirements:
-A pair of sturdy closed shoes & long pants
-Responsibility when operating heavy duty machinery
-Ability to work both individually and as part of a team
-Strong organisational skills
-Strong desire to help Apano Meria’s conservation efforts
-Motivation to live on a small island
